.338 LM chambering info needed

in my opinion, if you realy want to shoot from a clip, I would suggest you stick with 225 or 250. the 300 will take so much case capacity you wont get its full potential.
its why I sold my old sako action and build a new one on a single shot action. my 300 hybrid amo col is 3,915
it has come to my mind to build on a cheytac action, but I always shoot single anyway and even if I ever take it hunting, a second shot is not needed

for the dies, I like redding FL die to resize once fired from another rifle, then redding bushing neck ( necks must be turned to all have an even tickness)
redding body die to bump the sholder once an a while and micrometer seater forster or redding I prefer the micrometer of the forster, but besides that both seaters work extremely well.

for your reamer sélection, load a dummy round at the col you want it for your magasine, mesure the col at the ogive with the hornady col tool the, add the throat jump you want. I like use 0,050 on big cartridges. hybrides unlike VLD are not realy sensitives to seating depts unles you have a realy crooked chamber.

and just in case you find my post useless here is something just for your eyes

I had my 338LM chambered with a JGS CIP reamer and it seems to like the Berger 250 OTM seated to approx 3.770". This is about .040" short of the rifling.

I have some 300 Scenars but have not tested them yet. 3.770" should be close to fitting in a CIP magazine. I say should be as I screwed up and ordered a AICS chassis with standard (3.650") magazines so all these loads are longer than my mags.

Both the Scenars and the Berger OTM's have a pretty slender nose profile which makes for a long round when loaded out to get close to the rifling. I haven't looked at any of the Sierra offerings so they might be a little more blunt in profile and thereby better for getting out to the rifling without becoming super long loaded rounds.

That said I am pretty cautious about keeping a large capacity round like the 338LM off of the rifling so .040" is good for me.
