As the other thread started to get cluttered and long - decided to start another thread. Well, Lyle got my rifle to me! Early Christmas
After approx 2.5 months, I now am the proud owner of a .338 lapua magnum rifle. The final specs:
Trued Remington 700 with PTG .338 LM bolt, Bartlein Fluted .338 1-9 twist barrel, Vbull DM mag system, TPS 34mm Rings, KPA 20 MOA rail, McMillan A5 stock, PGW Muzzlebrake, TPS bolt knob, and S&B PMII 5-25x56mm P4F Scope.
So I started with this:
to this (Lyle sent the bumper sticker with the rifle
):
Lyle's work is outstanding - everything is tight and there is no slop anywhere. The bolt is a bit tight in closing but I figure it will break in with some use. The only tricky part with the build was the mag system - the DM system doesn't include any stops to prevent the mag from going right through the action. Lyle modified the action to have the magazine stop on the bottom and he modified the mag to catch the bolt - pretty neat on the last round it is no longer possible to close the bolt (unless you put in a fresh mag or remove the mag). Everything is bedded nicely and he did an outstanding job in painting the stock ninja black. The scope is one hefty piece of kit and everything feels solid. I checked to see if the mag rattles around and it is very tight - similiar to my .308 (Ed Begg makes some good stuff). The trigger is smooth and breaks nicely - it looks to be stock but has been smoothed out and lightened (I may have to replace this with an aftermarket depending on how she shoots).

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet so I will post a range report on it as soon as the weather cooperates.
