.338 LM rifle

Hi there,

Lets pretend our budgets top end will allow us to buy a .338 Timberwolf. Regarding accuracy, would we get it or would we be better off purchasing a custom rifle with the same ### appeal. I know it’s also alot about he ammunition and optics but lets stay on topic.

Not sure what ### appeal has to do with it. That is for boy toys. Any rifle can be hit with camo spray bombs.

Accuracy, quality components, and good builder are things I look for.

If you reload it gets less and less expensive with each reload of Lapua brass. Especially true for the improved version. I figure the cost to be around $1.75 ish or less per round.

Boils down to COTS or Custom. The Timberwolf has the tacticool appeal and is a good platform. But for the same or similar money you can go full house custom and get exactly what you want down to the size of the scope base screws.

I'd shoot a Timberwolf and not feel bad about it at all. Certainly would be my choice over an AI. But for the price I would prefer to go full custom.

I am confused, regarding the highlighted portion. Is this because you are selling the rifle below. If its so great why are you selling it. Not trying to cause a sh#tstorm but just wondering?

Yup. Same as if you can afford a Ferrari, you are automatically an F1 driver. The more money you spend, the tacticooler you are. Common sense, really.:rolleyes:

Really, for the money, custom is a better choice in terms of accuracy. Nothing wrong with a TW, but custom makers aren't too concerned with having to drag their rifles through a mile of mud before you can shoot it, and tend to slant things more towards accuracy. FWIW - dan
 
Alright with that being said would you put your custome in a gun boot on your ATV and 4 wheel 5 miles throught the bush and hunt with it? I want something tough and durable as well as a fine shooter.
 
Of course I am selling it. Just like the highlighted ad states.
I do not shoot the rifle very much and as such it would be better suited to a new home. Young kids, busy life, busy career, other hobbies. You get the idea.
Great things should be used often.

If I ever want another it is a simple phone call or email away.:)

I know when I have the funds I'm going with a Timberwolf. A friend has one and it's truly amazing. I will Post a range Report in a few months.

I took my custom 338LAI to Africa, where it got bounced about in the Landcruiser for 2 weeks and successfully killed everything I aimed it at.
If I owned an ATV would not hesitate to take the rifle where it needed to go.
Why would you figure a custom would be less durable than a production rifle?

Yup. I didn't build it to be pretty, I built it to shoot well. In a gun boot, unless you hit a tree directly with the gun, it's fairly well protected. - dan
