Alright I just sold my Barrett 98B and I'm settled on getting something PGW but i dont know what i should get. Mainly because i dont know what caliber i want.

I really like the Timberwolf, But at the same time I would be brave enough to venture into the world of .50 bmg as well (LRT-3). So I'd like to ask you guys your opinions

I currently have a range that i have the potential to stretch to 2000m but i'm still undecided on either. So i'd like to hear from you guys' experience. and preferences. Is it worth it to venture into the 50?

I went with the 338LM for the following reasons: the 50CAL is anti-personal and property at very ling distances. The 338LM is "only" anti-personal so the difference in ballistics is a moot point.

The second point was the deciding factor, reloading costs. 338LM is quite a bit more pricey then 308 to reload, 50CAL makes 338LM seem like a screaming deal reloading wise.

Just my 0.02

Yeah i was just doing a little research in that... seems like just the projectiles for reloaded .50 are $3.25 each ish... vs you can be out the door, projectile, powder and primer for under $2 with 338... But its a .50 lol

Stevens 223 with a vortex scope....painted green

don't forget the cheek rest/ ammo holder on the butt end and the 55grain bulk ammo....

on a serious note, they'll both do the trick but good 50bmg ammo costs a heck of alot more then good .338 ammo which is what you need for long range fun.

Yeah i'm seeing that plus looks like availability makes the 338 looks plentiful haha

have you thought about the .416? brass is a bit of investment, and from what iv been able to find only available as once fires. but the 450gn amax dont cost much more then a 300gn SMK for the 338

You can get a bit better performance out of the .338 Lapua Improved compared to the straight .338 Lapua which may help/confuse your decision. This is the route I will be going for next years build. Look into it and talk to Rick or Dustin at ATRS, they have more experience shooting and building this calibre than you can shake a stick at.
Good luck

Chicks dig guys with a 50.....just sayin...

Bahaha are you sure its not the same idea as driving a big truck?

Yeah, what's that saying, "Go big or go home"?

haha yeah thats been sitting on my mind as well :)

Yes i though about 416, but i would prefer a PGW product so its kinda LRT-3 or timberwolf now but thanks for the idea :)

Yeah i thought about going custom but given my purchase history, i think a factory rifle is my only option. Plus its timberwolf or LRT-3

I'll just leave this here....

I have both the LRT-3 and t-wolf (folding stock), I love them both, buy both..... It worked for me.

If you want my thoughts pm me we can hook up.

Whatever one you buy you will enjoy.

Good luck!

Just FYI , regular .338 reloading dies are almost impossible to get right now, especially if you want something specific let alone going with custom dies for an improved version. Many of our sponsors don't have much stock left.
