.338 Lupua Rifles

You can still find some TRG-S (SAKO M995) rifles around in the 338 Lapua or you can build one from what ever version you can find on the used market. Converting them is fairly straight forward and relatively economical.

The guys have listed some strong performers with some heavy price tags....

Here is an example....you can go with almost any McMillan stock....

Look into the cost and local availability of ammo and brass before you do anything else. The .338 Lapua is expensive to start with, but if you have to add shipping it may become prohibitive.

PGW Timberwolf . They're expensive but worth it. Plus, it's made in Canada

It's assembled in Canada. Apart from the action, the stock, barrel etc is not made in Canada. To say a rifle is made in Canada is a stretch. Just because PGW got the contract for the Cdn Military does not them the be all to end all. There are other rifles out there just as accurate and durable that cost less.

Build your own. Way cheaper, likely more accurate and you can have it look like almost anything you want. Ian Roberstson has Barnard and Stiller actions in 338 as well as stocks inletted for them. Add a custom barrel and you will be into a primo piece for well under 3 grand. Less than half of most factory rigs.

I am looking for a great rifle to purchase in .338 lupua. Can anyone give me names of some rifles so I can do more research?

While doing your research find a range that has a safety template large enough for a .338 Lapua Mag. Even with the CF going to the .338LM for a sniper rifle, Mons Range at CFB Borden is the only CF range in Ontario that will allow it.

That's now wrong.

Yankee range at CFB Petawawa is templated for .338LM, but Delta Tower, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta ranges are too, and have been for a number of years (.50 Cal).

I didn't think Petawawa was open for civy shooting? Thought it was for CF members only or with special invite from the newly formed club.

Thanks alot everyone for your help lots of work to do haha.

Pet does allow civvies to shoot on the range if they are part of the rod and gun club.
