.338 Lupua Rifles

Armtec Canada can make you this custom rifle at a reasonable price
if you don't have the money for a custom action but:
Get a Rem 700 magnum action. They reface the bolt and receiver ,trued and install sako extractor.Buy a barrel from Gaillard,I suggest a 30in heavy palma proflile and yes, Robertson stock are very good!!.Unfortunately ,this system would be single shot unless you get install a Badger trigger guard assembly that accept a AI 338 mag.
See http://www.badgerordnance.com/productgroup.php?id=accessories#
It is single stack thus no need to modify the receiver.....
OR get a AI AISC REM long action stock .Just add a 338 mag....

That ain't magic ,it's been done before!

See http://www.vandykerifles.com/

Armtech Canada will do the same,I did asked about a year ago!

Call them at 819-562-2954

Here's one that will probably out do most in the distance catagory. The 338 LM Ackley Improved with a +40MOA rail on it which with 65MOA in the scope only needs 95 to get to the mile mark and still cause something to have a real bad day.

Depending who you talk to, opening a bolt face might not be the best idea. You're better to get a 338RUM converted into a 338 Edge. Ballistically, I hate to say it but it comes incredibly close to the 338LM AI and you've got a large enough chamber then as well. It is quite a bit cheaper also then going custom. PM me for more details if you're interested in going that route.

Before you go the Rem 700 Way.... take a good look at the M995 or TRG-S. The bolt body is identical to the TRG designed from day one to take the 338 Lapua......etc..

Magazine of the TRG is one of the longest detachable mags on the market.

Like I said it's been done before.....

They done it before and it works no problems.....

van dyke in US done it too........

I had a Mcmillan 338 in T&E 7 years ago.....Massive receiver?Nope...

Check with Armetch Canada....they are producing custom made and Rem 700 modified to 338...

They are now been in that type of business for 20 years....They know what they are doing ......

I didn't think Petawawa was open for civy shooting? Thought it was for CF members only or with special invite from the newly formed club.

I'm the Senior RSO for the club.

Yankee is the rifle range used by the club. As is Quebec for pistol and shotgun.

You get to shoot twice for free, then it's time to pony up for the CAC membership and the club membership.

So an ORA/DCRA co-joint membership won't work? Not that Petawawa is in my back yard mind you, but you never know where I can get myself talked into driving for a shoot.

No, but let me know what Saturday you want to come down and I'll do something about it. Not the first 2 weeks of November - hunting.

By PM request, some photos of AWSM at range this last month.

The rifle is very comfortable, and surprisingly easy to manipulate

It is glassed with a USO 3.8-22x58mm scope. I recently added a shade with polarizing filter from HWSNBN. He was a bit concerned, as there are apparently 2 different thread pitches for the SN3. As there are at least 2 different production models of this fine optic, that made complete sense to me. This one happened to be a spot on fit.

Had to adjust 100y zero after mounting. Mine is an earlier unit, and lacks the fool-proof EREK elevation system. As such, you need to group, adjust for zero, remove the elevation drum locking nut so it no longer engages the elevation screw, and zero the drum.

I'm the happy, contented ####er shown here...

While I'd heard comments regarding the "ferocious" recoil of the .338LM, I found it as comfortable to shoot as my 7.62x51 SOCOM. Mind you, I'm no spaghetti armed little girl, but FWIW, even my wife found it very liveable.

As for the "concussion", I'd happily shoot it everyday. All day. The weight of the gun and the efficiency of the brake makes all the difference.

As always, YMMV.

I know I wasn't wearing the requisite "cool guy" HSLD gear for those pics.

I Guess I'm just more of a "Mark's Work Warehouse" sorta guy. And in the end, I gotta be me.

I've found the difference between pulling the trigger on a hopped up load with 250gr SMK and 300gr MK was night and day. I'm playing with Lapua 250gr Match bullets right now just for kicks and so far the varience from bullet to bullet is only .3 of a grain which is something every bullet maker should strive for. If you run the ballistic charts on the 250s and the 300s you'll see that after about 1100yds the 250 drops off while the 300 really starts to shine. At 1000yds, we're still putting a 1/8" crater in a 1" steel plate. I'll let you guys know what happens with the 250gr bullets once I get a load I'm happy with.

Roger that.

I'm testing results with a mix of Hornady SP and Scenar. Bullet weights vary between 250 and 300gr as well.

What powders are you pushing yours with. I'm using Hogdon 1000 and 4813 as they are "vendor shelf" common in my area.

Thought I let you guys know that I went to Corlane Sports & found some actual .338LM made by Lapua..About 60rds & asking 60-65$ per 10rds.
