Just got my Benelli R1 338 mag, i am very please to see how light this rifle is, finally decided to go for a 1.5X8X32 Bushnell Elite 6500, since this gonna be my moose-caribou rifle, this is enough magnification, Benelli is just on top of their business with their semi rifle, quality is way up there... Congratulations! I had one in my hands today in Deep River, ON. I was very impressed with the quality and design. I love my Supernova, and I think the R1 would be a great addition to my stable. I was originally looking for a bolt action in 7mm, but I'm giving the R1 in 338 or 308 some serious thought! I'd love to hear more about the rifle after you put some more rounds through it.

Is it comfortable to hold? I once handled and shot mint R1 in wood furniture and it was way too slick and I had a hard time getting a comfortable grip on it.

owlowl, I found the R1 to be very comfortable to shoulder and hold steady. I can see the wood version being a little slick maybe, but the finish on the black version is fantastic IMO.

I had the Confortek stock on one o my MR-1 and there was a big difference in recoil reduction, this stock is a little marvel of recoil absorbtion, would not be surprise at all that this 338 mag would push on par with a 270... JP.

Put any rounds through it yet? I'm interested in hearing about it's operation, any failures, etc..

The mailman just brought it today, i am waiting for a case of 250 gr Remington Corelockt from Wolverine, shoud have a report in the weekend as i got a little cosy shooting session with a few friends at our place on saturday... JP
