338 Marlin, anyone shoot it here in Canada ??

After going thru a couple of Marlin guns I settle on a 444 XLR shooting 444 Marlin. Really really nice gun and once I find some Leverevolution ammo I'll be able to take take a moose no problem. Thanks to all of those with there help in this thread.

Too bad you couldn't get you first choice but congrats on the .444 Marlin. I have one and its very accurate. I've shot up to 340gr bullets with mine. Moose won't be a problem.

Must have been because I called 7 different places in Canada after and was told the extact samething from each retailer, the 338mx ammo has not yet been approved for sale in Canada by the RCMP. The only place I found that list it on line is Grouse river outfitters, but when I callled he has none instock because they're not alound to stock it,and can't be imported from the US yet. Bass Pro, Lebarons, Gagnon's,Cabelas, Wholesale sports, and few small shops I called when I ask was told the RCMP has not approved the ammo for sale. If this is the case and were every you seen it, I wouldn't want to be caught selling it, because it's classed as illegal ammo in Canada at this time.[/QUO

I was looking at factory 338 marlin ammo yesterday at our small gun store here in Meritt BC so it does seem to be available If I rember right it was 200 gr listed at between 25-26 hundred '/sec so it has some clout.

What possible F*&^%$%$# reason could they possibly have to not allow the ammo into canada?????????

I have been looking at this cartridge and rifle.

I an presently down in Australia where they have some pretty stupid firearms laws and have been thinking that canada isn't so bad. But I may have to rethink that idea.

"Oh canada, we stand unarmed for theeeee!!!!!

338 mx

Yeah ! I got one over a year ago ....

I was just able to get the ammunition just recently .....it seems most of it is on back order at most places

I like the rifle Marlin lever in 338 MX ...... mine has smooth action as all of the 336 Models do
Nice semi buckhorn sights
The 22'' BBL is still not too long ( I did not want the 24'' version in stainless )
and handles beautifully
I added an aftermarket recoil pad ( I'm not big on felt recoil ) even though the 338 MX is very manageble without it
The walnut finish is nice and the accuracy is deadly ..... its my addition for a bigger rifle in my arsenal for Moose and other bigger game
As I'm a lefty I 've been looking for something more than my 30.30 ( even though it's never let me down )

So, with all considered I came up with the new 338 MX

I've always like lever action rifles, including Marlins and this one has not let me down

beware guys, that stuff is illegal! LOL keep your distance from it
No need for such a smart ass remark when I'm going by what I was told by all the places I've called. I'd rather be safe then get caught using something I'm not suppose to.

That's great if it's coming out now, may have to pick one up in the near future once the ammo is a little more available. Everyone I had talked to was hoping to see it out this fall sometime/early spring next year as it had been two years waiting, so by the sounds of it it's slowly trickling in. Good news
