My 338 weighs about 9.5 lbs all in. I have a top end Pachmeyer recoil pad on it with no muzzle brake. I shoot 225's, 250's, and 275's exclusively.
For the range I purchased a slip on recoil pad that I put on in addition to soften things. I regularly shoot 40+ rounds at the range with no issues.
Out hunting I do not feel a thing.
Some good council here, start light and go heavier, etc. Personally I do not notice a difference between this and a 300wm - but that may be just me.
