I just got the SAKO.338 in stainless steel and synthetic stock with OPTILOCK RINGS AND BASES IN s/s..and muzzlebraked quiet..

I would have a look at the Rugers as well. If I was going to buy a new .338 Win Mag and believe me I want to it would be a new Ruger Hawkeye in .338 Win Mag...

I've owned both Remington 700's and Winchester M70's in .338 Win-Mag and liked both just fine. I'm mainly a Remington man for hunting rifles but cant say if latest 700's are as good as earlier ones. I would recommend going with the Win-mag .338 over the Ultra-mag one. Just my personal opinion mind you, but for me the Win-mag is more than "enough gun" and the Ultra-Mag is waayy over the top for most people to shoot comfortably. Again, just my opinion.

A nice M70 Super Grade if you could find one or the Kimber 8400 Classic, The Kimber Montana if you are into Stainless and Synthetic followed by the Sako if weight is not too important.
