Hi There,

I'm not new to shooting and hunting, but am new to reloading. I've only done it a few time with the help of an experienced reloader. I really like the way my .338 WinMag knocks down the Moose with 250 grain bullets using Remington factory ammo. If you have a load that works well with 250 grainers, I'd love to hear about it. The rifle I'm using is a Remington 700BDL.

Thanks,
Greg

My favourite 250 gr load for my .338 is a 250 gr Partition over 72.0 gr of RL 19, Win cases, and CCI 250 primers. It gives just about 2700 fps MV out of my M70 with a "24 barrel.

I no longer have my 338WM but the load I use for my sons rifle is the 250gr Sierra 'Game King' BT pushed by IMR 4350. Very accurate and has worked well on Moose & Bear.

Mine has always been a 250 grian Hdy SP, and H-4831SC. I seat them at the bottom of the ring, and do not crimp.

The combo also works well with most 250 grain bullets. I Also like the spear Grand slam bullet for this cal.

I have had three .338 WM all of which I reloaded shells for. A 700BDL, A-bolt and winchester model 70 super grade.

I found one load that has consistently produced sub moa groups at 100yds.

70.0 Gr IMR 4831
Federal 215 Large Magnum rifle Primer
250 Grain Nosler Partition or Sierra Game King

xs two for the partitions and powder and primers

250gr Sierra Gameking, 70.2gr IMR 4350, CCI #250 primers. My model 70, 26" bbl, pushes these out at noticeably over 2700 fps, put them in 0.75" at 100 yards all day long.

I loaded 72 grains of IMR4831 with a 250 grain partiiton with both CCI and Federal MRP's and got 2750 12 feet off the muzzle. That is over 4000 fp of energy. The CCI primers grouped over 2" and 200 M. and the Fed's were under 2". They would take the head off a grouse slicker that snot . . .
