I to have heard you can modify the bolface on a .300RUM to a .338LM. My question is why not just go out a buy a .338 action rather than modifying and in my opinion weakaning a Remington action.

And if a modified Rem 300RUM action was strong enough to handle the .338 why wouldnt Remington just do it themselves rather than spend a load of dollars on R&D for a new action specifically for the .338LM if all they had to do was turn down a .300RUM action to start spitting out rifles.
