hello, I'm gonna buy a DTA SRS and I have to choice my caliber. I already have 308 and now want a 338. But I'm not sure between 338 LM and 338 NORMA. Both is 26''

338LM is throat for the 250gr
338Norma is throat for ??? (300gr probably) if somebody know that .....

what your opinion about this choice, and why lots of peoples wanna shoot the 300gr when 250gr have better ballistic to 1000-1200yds

thanks you

The norma was designed for 300gr SMK but components are going to be few and far between and expensive. 300 gr projos are far better in the sub sonic and trans sonic regions and offer higher BCs.

Start sourcing components before making your decision.

The 300gr bullets have much higher BC then any 250gr bullet. The 285's sit right in between.

Then decide whether you are single or mag feeding.

Brian Litz "Applied Ballistics for Long-Range Shooting" page
156 says no. The bc on the 300 is much better, so it slows
down more slowly, but once trans/sub sonic the shorter,
fatter 250 maintains much better stability. He says past
1500 the 250 will probably maintain stability better. I haven't
shot these bullets out there myself, but Brian Litz seems to
have the background to know his stuff.
