any advices on what action to get for a 338LM long range rifle project?
where to get it? and who could help me with the build?

Called K&S Arms about the same subject & Rod told me he could do it with a Sako Long Action bolt & reciever..Next would be to get a barrel & an aftermarket stock that would fit a Sako.

Even though you can get an action that would take the .338 LM, all the barrels were colossally heavy & big..customs barrel jobs seem to go in the near the $400+ area..
 
Barnard Action, see Robertson Composites. They are true and ready to go. I have a beutiful BAT action, but will go Barnard next, as they are the best deal.
 
We are using the TRG-S or M995 as a basic moderate weight platform. Add McMillan A5 stock, new bottom metal for nice large Sako M995 clip...USOPTICS base, TPS Rings, Holland brake, tactical bolt knob, and your off to th races.
 
is this going to be a hunting rifle or a bench gun?
and CZ also makes a 416.

problem with the cz is the trigger I believe theres no real after market stuff for it
$$$ is important if you have enough look into a nesika bay I have one in a 338lm and it is amazing I also have seen a couple more nesika actions and everyone of them was perfect
I personally wouldnt go for the sako trg for the money your going to put out you are almost at the price of a custom job
as for who to build it and get it I bought and imported my own action and it sucked I got rick to import the rest and that was easy as pie
I would talk to rick and see if he would build it his work is imaculate

I would go the custom action route if I was going with a .338 Lapua. If you only want .338 Lapua ballistics look at the .300 Ultra necked up and improved.

There are numerous Remmy action clones out there that are specifically being built for the .338 Lapua. Stiller's Tactical and Predator. Lawton makes a nice action that is reasonably priced. The Surgeon and then all the BR customs. I am quite fond of my BAT actions but would not use them in a serious hunting or tactical application.

Why the .338 Lapua? You would have more options going with the .338 Edge which equals or slightly exceeds the ballistics of the .338 Lapua and could put this round on a regular mag action.

Unless you are going with a custom action I would look into the .338 Edge.
 
Try Sergion rifles you can get an xl action with a 30 moa scope rail machined on the action and a338 lm bolt face. A little pricey but they ship to Canada.I have one with a 32" Lilja barrel and I love it.Shoots a 1.5" 300 yard group and a 5.5" 1000 yard group.
