I bought a Winchester Model 70 in 338 Win Mag - rifle was made in 1983 - so 24" barrel, 1-10" twist. I got it circa 1995 (?) - I tried various - Sierra 250 grain SPBT with IMR 4350 for over 2,700 fps; same bullet with RL-19 for about same speeds; 225 grain Hornady with RL-19 at circa 2850 fps; 180 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip with IMR 4350; 200 grain Ballistic Tip with RL-19 at circa 2900 fps; 210 Partition with RL-19 @ 2950 to 3,000 fps. My current loading for it is 225 grain Accubonds with RL-19 powder. I do have some 200 grain Ballistic Tip and 250 grain Partitions for it, on hand. It has worn various Leupold scopes - M8-4X and a 2-7 VX-1, now has a M8-6x36.

The Ballistic Tips are a HD version, so your lighter ones can be used as deer bullets without them blowing apart. The 225gr bullets are the 180gr in a 30-06 . I use 225 Accubonds and N560 .I think , they are only going 2750, or something like that. RL 22 has a good rep ,too. A 338WM is a 33caliber 30-06 .

professional111 - go to page 618 of Nosler 9 Reloading Guide - it lists 73.0 grains IMR 4350 for 2902 fps as their Maximum Load with 200/210 grain bullets - using Fed 215 primers, Nosler cases in a 24" Wiseman barrel - 1-10" twist. Minimum load shown for IMR 4350 and those bullets is 69.0 grains, which is marked as their most accurate load tested with that powder. As with many things, your results are likely to vary from what they got, so as has been mentioned above, several times - start LOW and work your way up to Maximum, with your rifle and your components.

The latest lots of IMR 4350 are little slower than the latest lots of H4350. I noticed in a recent manual, I was looking up 260 I think, at Max, it took one more grain. The reloading writers have mentioned it, as well. A4350 is also mentioned as being quicker than H4350. A4350 is now being made in Canada. Maybe it is the old IMR 4350 ? I like the current IMR version of 4350, it's very predictable and the load/pressure is lineal . It might not be 4895, but it is nice to work with. I use a Lee powder measure so IMR powders aren't issue with me.

I haven't worked with Hunter but from what I've read, it's like RL19. Hunter not temperature sensitive.
