339Lapua AI rifles ...

Just remember that you don't need a 338 to shoot LR. Its prime benefits as a 338 L is for hunting or object destruction.

The 223 has an effective/accurate range similar to the 308 which puts them in the 1200/1300yd range.

The 6mm, 6.5 can all go much further. My 6.5 Mystic will make it out to the mile.

A moderate sized 7mm and 180gr Bergers and a 300WM/WBY will shoot right next to the 338L with 250gr Scenars at a mile and beyond.

All have way less costs, easier to make, good barrel life, ease to components, and way less recoil.

An Accuracy Int rifle is a nice piece of kit but enormous money for what you get. If that is what floats your boat, great. If getting one is because it is better then other platforms, absolutely not.

Even if you want to stay with a 338 cannon, getting a full meal deal rifle made will be less money then the AI and arguably shoot better.

Like cars, you can pay $60,000 and get a 12 sec quarter mile factory produced looker. Or you can pay $10,000 and go 11sec. Just depends on what you want sitting in your driveway.

Ok thanks to the fellow CGNer's and their opinions on OTHER .338 rifle builds, etc.

I'd like to see some ACTUAL Accuracy International rifles, get actual owner's opinions, pics, descriptions, etc? Thanks,

Ai .338

On your point. I have had a AI AWSM for about 4 years now. It is an awsome piece of kit and is built like no other. I have shot a muriad of load through it and have always been impressed with its performance. Have shaved groups down to 0.20 MOA on good days. The rifle will typically do way better than the shooter is capable of. The system itself is well thought out and has way more versatlity than others SWS on the market. In addition , you get the complete kit when you order and are not stuck with buying all the components (muzzle brake, bipod, scout mount ect.) seperate like the Sako and others. In term costs , yes the rifle is expensive but you get what you pay for, this is a SWS not a remington 700 mod. The two are light years apart. There are certainly great SWS out there and I have shot a few. I still believe the AI is tops. If you do the research you will come to the same conclusion. There is a reason over 40 coutries use this system. In terms of reloading, it is no big deal, sure it is more expensive than some others but you are not out shooting 100's of rounds in a sitting. LR shooting is one of patience, concentration and reading the variables not hammering rounds down range. That is what we have small black rifles for. If you have any specific questions PM me. If you want the best of the best , spend the money , you will have it a lifetime and will not be disappointed. Cheers.

Aw338

I have an AW338, I have had customs and a sako all in 338Lapua. This weapon from Accuracy International is by far the best gun I have ever owned, shoots like a dream. Until you have owned one you will not understand. They are the best production 338lapua out there. There for sure are better custom guns but mine rocks!!!

nomames ... any pics of your rifle to display? pics of groupings? info on type of bullet, grain, powder, specs, etc used? Optics used? Thanks for all the posts, PM's, e-mails as I'm seriously interested in one of these rifles ...
