If you've already got a good load for the 325, you be better off leaving it as is considering all the extra expense.

Unless you are a full route gun loony and will do it just because, about the only thing you'd really gain is a better selection of bullets but otherwise the two would be very similar. :)

Key words “ full route gun loony”.lol...yeh I hear what you’re saying. like most people on here we all have more then one gun that will give basically the results. I bought the rifle on a whim . Wanting another 338 win mag I got impatient waiting for the 338 and took the 325 the store had in stock. The 325 really doesn’t do anything for me. So I’ll make into something different. I’ve been doing some research now on the R 17 & R 19 powders with a 225 gr are looking promising, Thinking of a 338wsm... it’ll never compare to my 338 winmag but neither will my 338 fed built on a win 88 action..
long story short probably going with the Sambar... lol

Well, you have my full support... an M70 All-Weather in .350 WSM is going to be a very useful rifle... it will likely replace many of the medium bores when you head to field... post pics and range report when you are done.

Probably be awhile.. I got to do some research finding a good gun smith to rebore it. Last 10-12 years I had some serious bad luck with two gunsmiths., I also have a custom built 6.5-06 that was supposed to be 6.5-06 A-square I need opened up first .. I did have Ron Smith rebore a 308 barrel to 358 Winchester , he did a great job and was fast. But I’m not sure if he still works.
Plus I’m building up my jeep again.. But I’ll get the 350 Sambar done soon enough.

i ran into a 338 wsm in the mountains of nz of all places.......... well out of place imo but he got it cheap off a mate apparently..

good in big deer country.

RE the 325WSM.........

why isnt this round more popular?
i mean theres not much between 338 and 325 at the end of the day , perhaps apart from projectile selection?

Its not a case of “need” more then it is want.. I have a lot of different firearms I don’t need , but like to have different ones.
I would of stopped buying hunting rifles years ago when I bought my 308 win.. it’s all a guy really needs imo. But the 325 just doesn’t do it for me so I’ll change it into something I’ll think I’ll have fun with.

Oh I’m not saying you don’t need or want a 350 Sambar. I want one of those too and I fully support your loonieness. I was just responding to whelen lads comment about 8mm bullet availability.

Build away, I’ll enjoy living vicariously through you.

So I’ve been developing some loads for my elk hunt this Fall. Despite the Sierra Gamekings shooting very well, I like Barnes on larger game. I picked up some R17 on CGN and packed my necked up 325 WSM cases with 75 grains of powder with a 200gr Barnes TTSX on top. They shot excellent and the three shot I chronographed with my Magnetospeed came out at 2968, 2973 and 2972. Maximum point blank range for elk being about 318 yards. I am super happy with this project so far. Loving the Sambar. When I get a chance I will do some quick shooting using the extended Dark Eagle Customs Mag that give me 5 WSM round in the box and one in the pipe. Going to be a great little piggie gun.

I used Bryce Towsley’s Wildcat data as a starting point as he states that R17 is made for this cartridge. My velocities were right in line with his published numbers. Absolutely no pressure signs and very easy bolt lift.

A few more pics...

Sorry about the sideways pics...
