35 cal rifle projectiles

Never seem to not find these at gun shows.
Got a pile of them.
180's and 200's.
The 250's need some Texan elevation past the hundred yard mark.

I'm using Speer 220gr and Barnes 225gr TSX in my 358 Win, no issues finding them thus far ......

Do you find the Barnes TSX 225gr bullets expand on game okay at 358Win speeds? I have always shot 250gr bullets in my Whelen Carbine but am thinking of going to 225gr to increase the speed, expansion and flatten the tragectory.

I use the Hornady 200 PSP in my 35 Rem. (bolt action), 358 Win. and 350 Rem Mag, this bullet has worked great across a wide speed range.
I have not shot at any game past 100yds so I don't know if they will expand at long range but they sure do work very well at the ranges I have taken deer,
I have also never recovered any except one that came apart they penetrate very well and hold together.

I like to shoot 250 grain bullets in my .35 Whelens because I use them for critters bigger than deer. but the one bullet that seems to work well on paper and on game in the Whelen, the .358 and the .356 Win is the 220 Speer FP. i believe it would serve in the .35 Rem too. I killed a moose calf with one out of a .356 at a paced 250 long steps, good expansion and full penetration. Killed a few deer at closer ranges with .356 and .35 W. No problems. My brother used the Barnes TSX 225 in his .358 win for several elk and moose, no problems.

For .35 Rem and .358 the Speer 220 FN is a very good bullet. I have used them for elk and moose in a .356 Win. with no regrets. You can special order them if a local store does not have them in stock. I shot the Speer 220FN out of my Whelen too, they were accurate but I have never shot game with them at the higher velocity. Woodleigh are very good bullets, worth the price.
My son took a bear with the Speer 220 FN out of my .356 Win in September. Shoots well, feeds well, kills well.

Every legitimate shop I have ever been in carried a variety of .35 cal bullets. My .350's shoot 250 Parts very well, but my deer load with the Hornady 200 RN is extremely accurate. The 200 FTX is a good bullet in all of the .358 Win's that I have tried them in.

My family shoots 35 whelen/350 rem mag and soon 35 remington. Anyone know any shops that stock 35 cal rn of any make? Seems there is no 35 love in Canada, anyone know why? There is lots of 200gr ftx out there but prefer old standard low tech get em done brush busters!

Theres NO Love because there is the Much superior .338 Calibers ! :p ;) lol RJ

tigger...is that you Rick?

Likely not, but no matter...
There are 2 boxes of Hornady 200gr RN on the shelf at WSS in Saskatoon, likely some in Va...Regina too.
I was waiting til they got discounted a bit before I bought them but wtf, if they're gone the next time I get down there I hope you got em.

Higginson Powders Inc. in Hawkesbury, ON (613-632-9300) lists the following Hornady offerings:

#3515 35 CAL .358 200 GR RN $51.34/100
#3520 35 CAL .358 250 GR SP-RP $70.52/100
#35105 35 CAL .358 200 GR FTX $57.21/100

What about Hawk bullets ?
They seem to have a good selection.

I got a bunch of Hornady 250 gr RN saved
And some 250 gr FN Winchester that shoot great out of my Whelen

If it has been mentioned already, my apologies. The RCBS 200 gr cast is good in the 35 Rem, and it works in the 350 RM as well. I have both rifles, and they survived the last purge. A 336 from the early 50's and a Rem 700 Classic. I do not have a 35 Whelen, it will work in it as well but IMO the Whelen works best with a 250 gr bullet. With the RCBS cast 200, you can run the 35 Rem at full power. Fryxell article lists data.

"The folks at RCBS clearly had the .35 Remington in mind when they designed their 35-200-FP. When crimped in the crimp groove, the base of the GC come down even with the base of the neck. The OAL is 2.410" (maximum allowable OAL for the .35 Remington is 2.525"), and as a result, it cycles perfectly in the levergun. When loaded over 38.0 grains of H335, this fine bullet left the Marlin at an impressive 2184 fps and gave excellent accuracy (5 shots into an inch at 50 yards with buckhorn sights). This is an excellent all-round load for the .35 Remington. This load could easily turn into a personal favorite for the .35 Remington levergun."

If you are going jacketed, the one bullet that works in both the 35 Rem and 350 RM is the 200 gr FTX. The 2.79999" magazine in my 700 Classic precludes the use of any long bullets.

The Speer 180 shoots well in the 35 Rem, and the 220 should make the 350 RM a bush wacker, hog stopper or Moose rifle.

For hunting bigger game, I've often thought that a Woodleigh would be a good choice.
