I have a JM stamped .35 remington 336, just wondering what folks like to use for ammo?
.I got a few boxes of blue box federal ,which is all I've tried so far. They seem to be decent from 50 yards groups with open sights are decent.

I plan to re load for it once I get some once fired brass. The hornady ammo is very expensive so I might just stick to classic round nose loads.

It's not what you would call commonly available. Kind of a take what you can get kind of round

Winchester 35Rem Ammo

This spring, I purchased a JM Marlin, in 35Rem, and a couple boxes of Winchester 35Rem ammo. First 2 rounds no problem, 3rd round would not chamber.
Rifle cycled the all of the remaining rounds no problem.

The round on the Left does not cycle, round on Right cycles just fine.
Round on left, shoulder was not formed correctly.

I could of pulled the bullet and sized the brass, but for the price, I thought it would be better to let Winchester know about their screw up. I returned the defective box of ammo to Winchester, on their dime, for refund.

35Rem reloading, I have a few boxes of Sierra #2800 200gn RN bullets, for the old Marlin.

I went back to the little hardware store where I bought the blue box federal and they were just stocking up the ammo cabinet, green box remington.35 cal were $75.99 a box.I bought 2more federal blue box $50 each. That should give me enough brass for re loads.

Wow, what a rip-off. I paid $20 a box for mine and that was only a couple of years ago.

I tend to consult Ballistic studies when I am faced with an ammunition selection decision.

I handload, but tend to favor factory for the 35 Rem. Depending on the load and the brass, maintaining the shoulder position can be an issue.

You mentioned that you now have Federal ammunition and that you plan on reloading. I had some issues with reloading Federal brass. Federal brass is a bit more malleable than say Remington brass. If the pressure is low, like for a starting load, the shoulder will be set back when the round is fired. If you don't push the shoulder back up, you will experience the odd missfire. Once you have a near max hunting load established this doesn't tend to occur. YMMV, but it's worth checking the shoulder position on every shell you reload.

I stick with a box of Rem 200 gr Core-Lokt for field work.

I've loaded Speer 180's and 220's, cast bullets, and Hornady FTX. A fun caliber. But like I said, in the field, I carry factory.

Don't be scared into not loading the 35 Rem. I have gone through hundreds of reloads and never had a problem. Hornady RN or FTX over a full load of LVR and have fun.

If you think 35 Rem is hard to find, try looking for 25, 30 and 32 Rem. - dan

I really lucked out at the Woodstock,On gunshow one day by snagging ten full boxes of new old stock CIL 32 Rem brass to feed my 30 and 32 Rem caliber rifles. At a follow up show not too long after that one I found another 50 loose in a bag of NOS Rem brand brass.

That is lucky. I keep an eye out but I don't think they were that popular around here. I rarely find ammo or brass for Model 8 in 32. Found some 30 Rem, passed it on to a friend who has one. - dan

I found a very good supply of winchester 200 grain super x ,priced at$29.99 a box.It shoots decent groups at 75 yards with ghost ring peep sight set up.not quite as fast as other 200 grain anmo, but Tyd price was right.

Yup, either take what you can get or start reloading.
I acquired a Ruger #1 in 338 WinMag and decided to pick up a couple of boxes of Ammo for it.
The one local LGS has a limit of one box per customer (supply chain issue) ...
Needless to say I left empty handed and went across town and bought 2 boxes of Federal Blue box 225 grn sp @ $75.00 per.
Been scouring the EE for local deals and the search has revealed a couple of skinny leads or possible mixed manufacture.
Get 'er sighted in and leave well enough alone till either the supply chain starts to supply more or start reloading.
Tight Groups,
Rob
