I was heard Marlin/ Remington has discontinued chambering the 35 Remington, I sure hope this is not true, one of my favorite hunting rigs.

Love my 35's.....remington has only made a few special runs in 35 rem over the past few decades. Marlin was the only ones who kept it going to my knowledge. A great round and has dropped many deer over the years.

I heard this rumor from a dealer, also looking at Marlins web site the 336c is only listed in 30-30, but rate of twist for 35 Rem. is referenced in the specs.
I already have one from 2009 and have ordered another soon to be fitted with a ghost ring sight setup.

I've been interested in this caliber ... Kinda looks like a mid bore that wants to be a big bore like its brothers.. Anyone have a solid page for reading on ballistics, pros and cons and such I've never heard of or seen anyone shooting one but the cartridge has fascinated for quiet a while and would consider purchasing one if I could find some information

I figured it was dropped because it is more or less a twin of the 30-30?
Well, not quite. Buffalo Bore's factory load (easy to duplicate with AA2520 and LVR powders) for 35Rem of 220gr FP Speer's bullet at 2200fps (with BC .300) comppared to 30-30's 170gr bullet at 2200fps (BC .250) makes the world of difference in kiling power. When it comes to choosing the cartridge for heavy game hunting then 35Rem stands alone.

This really sucks! It just became my favourite bush cartridge recently and I have just purchased 4 old classics in this caliber over the last year or so. A Remington model 8, A Remington Model 8D, a Remington Model 14 and a Browning Patent 1900 with the rare regular barrel jacket. I wonder how long it will be now before they drop the cartridge altogether from all of the manufacturers. Better start stocking up!!!

Around a 100 years plus as your collectables demonstrate - so ammo will be around for a long time yet I'd say. Save your brass though.

Well, that sucks! Probably my favorite carbine cartridge. Although i'm really liking my .454 Casull these days...

I received my new .35 Rem 336C from Wholesale Sports mail order four days ago, I took the chance buying it without examining it being its a Remlin. The gun would not even function at all, every time I tried to cycle it the gun would lock up jammed tight. I am a bit of an expert on the Marlin guns, I understand how they work and the timing of the internal parts. After pulling it apart I could not believe how rough some of the internal parts were, burs and machine marks everywhere. I ended up spending 7 hours in total dis assembling, filing, polishing, and reshaping critical part such as the lever cam, I even had to heat up the carrier and bend it up .050" to re-time the hole action. The result of all this is a gun that's the smoothest Marlin I have even owned. [ and I have a bunch of them]
slicker than my other .35 Rem 2008 real Marlin built 336. This is the second Remlin I have bought, the first was a 336Y from Epps that was built in 2012 it is a bit rougher than some of my older Marlins but functions fine.
I hope Remington does something with the quality control at the factory or even better just sell Marlin to someone who cares about what they are building, my newest .35 Rem 336C is now a great gun but I should not have had to put more hours in to it that the factory that built it.

I'm in the process of putting together a .35 Rem in a Savage 10 action. Should be a fun little bolt gun.

I managed to get one of the XLR's in 35Rem.
I really like the caliber, but feel that a shorter barrel (20-21") whould be much nicer to carry!
I shot a really nice 20" black bear boar with it 4 years ago. More than enough power. 150-175yds.

If you ever want to sell or trade that XLR let me know
