Gents i have got the Ruger back in action and in a walnut stock, i sanded the gloss back too an its a beaut wood dull colur..... shes sweet.

i wanna plink this gun, im going to be buyin a bulk lot of cast.. i cant find any .358 cast commercial in aus, but lots of .357.........? weights are not heavy, all for pistols an levers etc. these work? im not going to be out hunting deer with them or anything. bit of off hand shooting practises and recoil training.

any helps here, sizes for my whelen..

i wondered about that, everyone uses TB or the like, we can get a coated cast bullet here which can be run up alot warmer, im using them in a 375bb at 17-1800 fps and its showing no sign of leading .

i was going to look into the coated 358 stuff so as to try run them a bit better than the 1000-1200 range and was hoping to use a normal powder, does this suit the hodgon 60% powder where ya can download?
i think from memory it is the AR2206H which isss 4895!?

lot of good reading there though, il be checking that out more finer.

I have tried Trail Boss in rifle and in HG .... Not my go to powder .... think it was made for the people worried about double charges

I like the H and IMR 4895

You should be able to get ADI powder that I think is H 4895 ???? AR2206H

I chat with someone who also uses AR2208 with cast in some higher velocity / custom twist barrel

Do not use tp as a filler

I have used Dacron ( the stuff pillows is made from)

Some powders need a filler if less than 60% fill density.... Some powders no filler needed

I was shooting a cast load and you could hear the velocity of the different shots when powder position was different
Dacron improved that load (velocity and group size and numbers from the crony)

Covid has slowed the work on My 35 whelen rifle with cast loads ....... also the heat

More reading Material for you ..... on Fillers ... post #2

That is a big case. Lots of airspace.

If you can find 200 gr lead bullets, that would be nice. I would use a faster powder than 2206 or 2208. 2400? 4198 speed?

If all you have is 158, try laoding 2 at a time, back to back, giving you a 320g load. You will be surprised how well that can shoot up to 50 yards.
