Hello, I bought a 35 Whelen recently. I've been getting reloading components gathered up and I can't seem to find a Lee Factory Crimp Die for the 35 Whelen. Looking at Lee's wep site, it doesn't seem that they make one. I could get one custom made, but I was checking here to see if I have any alternatives. I could roll crimp with my seating die, but I prefer the Lee crimp die. Could I use a 358 Win. crimp die, and use a spacer of some sort to make the die work? Or do I have other options?

Thanks for your time, Eric

I load for three .35 Whelens, and have never found crimping them to be any advantage to accuracy or function. The .35 has an adequately long neck for good bullet tension, why do you feel you need to crimp?

Quite a few 35Whelen nuts I know just get a machinist to open up a 30-06 Factory crimp die. A 10 minute job. Thats what I did too. Lee will make one for you too at a fairly modest price.

But as Longwalker says crimping is not a necessity. I loaded 35whelen for two decades before I got my crimp die. I just use a crimp (only sometimes) on heavily loaded hunting rounds.

Email Leeprecision.com directly with the question - they responded real fast when I was looking for info on a .338-06 FCD. Turns out I was able to use a .338 Win Mag die for both factory crimping and neck-sizing.

I do the same with my 340 Gibbs as well. I'll try calling Lee. Somebody wouldn't happen to have the phone number, would they? I'll look it up as well.
