As per typical gunnut behaviour one always thinks of new toys for the next season. I was looking at the catalogs and noticed that NEF has a handi rifle in 35 whelen. My plans are to have rifle to use in the bush over a stand so ranges will be relatively short. This combination seems to provide fast handling with decent knock down power. I know there has been a lot of strings on the NEF but what about this combo ?
So I'll put it out there: For a sub 200yrd shooter out of a tree stand would you use a 35 whelen NEF ? ( I know levers are a good option but I'm not a huge fan of that type of rifle )

I think they're decent little rifles. There was a thread recently about ejection issues but the one that I shot in 30-30 AI ejected those suckers with authority! Mind you the smith that did the improve might have had something to do with that..
