Hello all, first off I have a custom Parker Hale in 35 Whelen with a match grade 24 " Shilen Barrel in a glass bedded Bell & Carlson fiberglass stock with a detachable magazine.
What I want to do is have the barrel re-chambered to 358 Norma Magnum, the bolt face opened up to accommodate the magnum cartridge and have a floor plate installed instead of the detachable magazine.
I am wondering how much this work would cost and where in southwestern Alberta or southeastern BC I could get this done.
Thanks for the input guys and gals.

I want more power for elk, moose, bears etc... and I have a massive amount of 250 gr 358 cal bullets having owned a 358 win, 350 Rem Mag and the 35 Whelen. I had a 338 WM and a 375 H&H before so this would be between the two and lots of power for my needs plus it would have a cool not many have it factor.

I don't know if the bottom of the receiver is milled to correctly feed the Magnum Case. If it is all milled out to accept the detachable magazine this conversion may not be feasible. The chambering and bolt face and extractor alteration is fairly easy.

If you are capable post a very good quality picture of the bottom of your action. Perhaps something can be determined from that. I expect someone will know the answer though.

Why not rebarrel in 300 Win Mag? Sure somebody would trade off your bullets. 300 mags are available. The 300 WN with a 220 gr bullet deliveries a vel of 2850 vs 358 NM 250 gr bullet at 2756.

I have a Sako A7 SS in 300 win mag. I've had over 80 rifles in calibers from 22LR to 375 H&H. I want a 358 NM.

Also there is something that can be said for larger caliber bullets when they hit game that smaller calibers just don't have. Its not all about paper ballistics.

Would be a lot cheaper and faster turn around time to buy a zastava Mauser with the Mangum face and bottom plate and just re barrel and swap the stock yourself. That way you know you have enough metal. I like the idea of the 358 Norma

Guntech is correct about the bottom of the PH action being milled out to accept the detachable magazine and it will NOT feed the cases properly. Brybenn has a good idea, find a Zastava or MK X rifle and swap barrels.
