35 Whelen recommendations

I’m a big fan of TAC powder and 225gr gamekings at 2750fps. The Whelen is one of my favourite cartridges due the spectacular kills it provides. Animals just drop with authority

That's the joy in shooting heavy for caliber bullets.

A 225 grain 338, at similar velocities gives similar results, as does 200 grain 30 cal and 32 cal bullets at similar velocities.

have you done much the norma oryx variety?
ive just stumbled upon 50 of those for $40, so snavelled them up- look t be a tough bullet- ill save them as a full emergency bullet if i run out for the whelen.
ill also have 200 speer hot cors to slowly use up in hunting scenerios after these 80 odd Hornadys, but all 250 grains

$40 for a 50 count box of 358 Oryx is a great price.

Oryx bullets are bonded core types, utilizing thick jackets with constant thickness from top to bottom. They are very tough.

I used the 230 grain bullets in my rifles, but had to stop, because they were almost impossible to find, while I was still using my 35 Whelen.

I sold the two 35 Whelen rifles I had built for myself, because finding good bullets in 35 caliber was always difficult, unless I ordered them out of the US.

My go to 35 Whelen bullet was the 250 grain Speer Spitzer, over IMR4320, and N140, for just over 2500fps.

yeah fair enough an thanks.

youre not wrong, they are a bit of a steal, an the hot cors were old stock price too.... i think that part of Australia is now limited to what calibres it has an how many guns, so i said i would clear the 358 projies they have for a good price posted :) charged $15 post across other side of aussie :)
