It's not "338-06 or 35 Whelen".
It's "338-06 and 35 Whelen".
Everyone should have at least one of each and be able to pick and chose what you want to hunt with.

Like the man said,you need to have both,I do.I found the 35 likes the 200g bullets and the 338 likes the 250g,the next 338-06 I have built will be on a remington 700 action.I just got the whelen so I have not shot anything yet but the mule deer I got last year sure went down fast.

Silly me, I was expecting ballistic stats, personal experience, detailed autopsy report from animal shots, an informative debate about which round was better! Should have known better:redface: :rolleyes: :p

I was expecting an in-depth discussion about how there are 49(or whatever) different .338 bullets as opposed to only 34(or whatever) different .358 bullets and how the 225 gr .338 Nosler Part with it's BC of .454 was significantly better than the 225 gr .358 NP with it's BC of only .430 and how this difference of .024 in BC would amount to any significant difference in trajectory given the obvious velocity superiority of the Whelen.

the .024 BC makes up for the 75fps the whelen gets over the .338-06 with same weight bullets. just like the greater S.D.'s of the .338-06 conter the greater frontal area of the whelen.......

no one has a leg to stand on in this argument. I just had a .338-06 built, what tipped the scales what the great amount of bullets in .338 cal, and the fact that every body and their dog has a whelen.

in the end it's whatever blows your skirt up.....
