Ive been loading my 35 wsl with 13.5 grains of 4227 behind 180 grain lead, and am just curious to hear if anybody out there has been loading differently. I havent really found anything wrong with my load but was thinking someone must have played around with this cartridge a bit and may have some tips.

Cartridges of the World has your load plus 13 grs of 2400 with a 180 gr bullet.
Also a 165 gr lead bullet with 8 grs of 2400.

"...someone must have played around with..." Not likely. No rifles or ammo made since before W.W. II. I'll send you the datas in my old Lyman book.
"...9mm win mag..." About 200 thou too short. You have no headspace and are unsafe. The 9mm is rimmless too. The .351 is semi-rimed. You guy ever do any research?

the 35wsl is in the model 1905 and the case is aprox the same length as a 38 special which cases can also be made from and 9mm win mag which needs a wee bit of material above the rim removed to fit in the chamber.
the 351 wsl is a longer cartridge and is in the models 1907and 07 .The 351 is aprox .200 longer and will not chamber in the 1905 35wsl
yes there is a difference between the 2 as I do own and shoot both .And because of the research done I found 9mm win mag case to work with the 35WSL

Well at least no one has posted 35 WCF data yet I saw a thread once about reloading 35 WSL before I owned one and some helpful fellow was telling the guy to load 30 some grains of 3031 ha ha. That would be a fairly compressed load. Thanks for the help guys.

I use 5.9gr of Trail boss behind 180gr cast lead. 357 max brass machined down are working great in mine and the groups are not too bad.
You can make 35 WSL brass from 38 Special with a bit of lathe work on the rim and extractor groove and by shortening its overall length.
Bullets need to be sized to 0.351" - I've used both cast and jacketed 38 cal bullets sized down to 0.352"
Powder-wise, H4227 or IMR4227 seem about perfect for this and all other cartridges in the line: 401 WSL, 351 WSL, 35 WSL AND 32 WSL.
