Ruger sends me emails about their new products- one of which is their American bolt action in 350 Legend. This calibre is a new one to me. Does anyone have more info. Thanks.

If you hunt in a state that requires a straight wall cartridge for center fire rifle big game hunting then it makes a lot of sense. As for use in Canada, it's useless imo. I can't see them selling well here.

I think it has potential, but the guns are not available yet. Read about 357 Maximum in rifles, then translate to a semi auto. I know ARs aren't forest legal here, but another (that still uses 10rd pistol mags!) light be popular. I'd buy one.

I'm packing a 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 375JDJ gives me 21" barreled 375 Win velocities I'm good out to 250 yards with my Hornady 220gr JHP & 225gr Spitzer loads.

I also have a 21" Contender barrel chambered in 375 Win but find I never load or shoot it and a 21" Contender barrel rechambered to 375JDJ loads are 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps.

I have rifles in straight walled cases in 375 Win, 10mm, 45 Colt, 454 Casull, 450 Bushmaster and 45-70 these cover anything that the 350 Legend would do for me here in BC = I will be passing on the 350 Legend.

how does the casull go on game an in a gun? interests me a bit bcoz not a fan of 45-70s , dont think i would get the casull tho as i use the 375win, but always curious

My 454 rifle is a stainless 20" barreled Puma M92 after changing out the rear sight and having Peter at Rusty Wood Trading Company it is accurate both 45 Colt and 454 Casull.

It handles almost anything I put in it from 200gr cast 45 Colt loads to 405gr WLNGC in 454 Casull.

Here is my 240gr XTP-Mag load = Rem 7.5 primers 30grs H110 lee Factory crimp die crimp average velocity is 2350fps I can put 3 into 1 3/4" - 2" @ 100 yards

Picture is a family friend shooting it.

Evidently there's some states with a straight wall cartridge season 35 calibre minimum, likely thought up long ago to separate modern high power rifle from black powder design cartridges with a lot less range. Anyways the 350 Legend was derived around this, much the same as bolt action slug guns wearing big optics designed fairly recently trying to get a leg up on shot gun seasons. But even better with the 350 Legend you can run your AR during the straight walled primitive weapons season. So I've read state side anyways. Other than that, no, it isn't really covering any new ground that's for sure.
