350 Rem Mag Claims Another Bear !!!!! Photos Up

Well, I'm confused. The story shows more deficiency than the power of 35 RM. Two shots and a running bear.
Anyway, congratulations. I like the photo of cigarette, gun, dead animal and a man.

Congrats Mr Douglas!! Nice bruin. I have had similar looking bullets with my .300winmag and Hotcor's. They usually completely separate from the jacket, and fall into my hands into several pieces. They always get the job done.

That bullet that did all the bone breaking was low through the cavity, too low in fact to inflict a mortal wound, immediately. Strangely enough elker, the second bullet which was perfectly aimed at his heart was abducted by aliens on it's way to the bear and never reached it's mark. Them little buggers do that to me a lot on my second shot, oddly enough!!:redface: The third shot in the willows was in the head as the photos show. That actually is an entrance and exit wound all in one with about 1/2" of hide in between.......damn near another alien abduction shot. In my defence he was just a squirming black blob in the willows and I couldn't make out much except a bit of an outline so, it is what it is .... dead bear!!
The 350 performed admirably...........the shooter not so much.....
I guess when I don't feel the excitement that causes me to miss 80% of my second shots it will be time to hang it up..........

As an interesting aside, this was a tough old boar.........there were fang puncture marks either side of his upper shoulders where something REALLY big had bit him over both shoulders and a significant way down on the shoulders. Seeing as how I haven't seen too many lions or crocs up in that area I'd have to say he got in a tangle with a huge grizzly and survived. No blood shock or bruising around the fang holes but hadn't healed over yet either so either very early this spring or maybe last fall late. Where he lived is known to have the largest concentration of really big grizzlies in the Yukon, so I'm not that surprized. It is just a testament to how tough that old boy must have been, that plus the fact he was actually tough enough to get up after that first shot, with opposite corners all busted up, and make 20-30 mtrs before laying up................helluva boar!!

He's getting rugged even though he ain't 7 foot just because of what a helluva bear he must have been.........

Now if I could just find a big grizzly I could have them mounted in that pose of the grizzly biting him on the shoulders, with him fighting back for his very life............it'd be a cool mount.

Sure glad I wasn't shooting a 270........:p:p:p

I guess it goes back to the adage of the size of the fight in the dog vs size of dog in the fight. I was charged by the one in my avatar and to this day I can recall the noise and vision of it as clear as a bell. When they want to be shy and retiring they can be and when they want to fight, just get out of the way (or insert 180 grains at 3000 fps). Either way they are a fantastic game animal to encounter.

Nice bear and good narrative to match Doug. Your one of the few men of experience that I know to admit he actually misses a shot now and then, due to the excitement of the moment. Adds even more credibility to the story.

Thanks Pete, I do miss from time to time and although it seems to be unadmittable by some, it certainly does happen to me. I also never shot a score over 21 at rifle silhouette, that's life, I'm not an exceptional offhand shot. I accept this fact and try hard to work within my short comings, however this particular bear and set up only allowed me to shoot offhand..........no chance for a rest anywhere so...........it is what it is. I didn't miss the first shot though and that's what really counts!! And like I said earlier when one adds the excitement and adrenaline after already smashing him hard, well what can I say..............aliens abducted my bullet between muzzle and bear.........Because God knows I NEVER, EVER miss..........;);)

That's wut I always say.
Me shoot'in is bang on if I hit nutt'in I was aiming at.
POI precise, bullet always hit where barrel was pointed.

Have a line on a replacement .350 RM... but my cash is tied up with some imports that I have been looking for and finally found... hoping this one will be around for a bit until I can pick it up... until then, time to clean house again... it never ends, does it?
