350 REM Mag? NEW ? added

HI Guys;
I'm an old guy and I bought a Remington 350 Magnum when they came out.
Nice & short, KICK LIKE HELL, fairly accurate.
One morning I was looking at my gun rack and I realized that I did not take the 350 out anymore. [FOR SALE].
I never did miss it.
I bought a 7mm Remington Magnum in 700 BDL and I shot on hell of a pile of moose with it.
I never missed my 350 Magnum.
I replaced it with a Remington Model 7 in 308 Winchester. So far 4 moose with it.

This is an ancient necro thread... but it is a reason to talk about the .350 Rem Mag... perhaps not a good reason...

I currently have two, will go down to one once I figure out which one to keep, but I am torn... they are both Ruger M77 MKII's, one blued/ walnut and one stainless/synthetic... I love the round... I don't find it to be a kicker much at all... no perceivable difference between the 350 with 250's and my 30/06's with 180's... they both kick, but not uncomfortably.

My two are the bottom rifle in each picture;

Very cool round, definitely a favorite. I got my .300 WM Remington 798 converted to .350 Remington Magnum. Being a long action, I can increase cartridge OAL so that bullets don't take up case capacity. Yeah I know it's a cartridge intended for a short action blah blah blah whatever - but I saw the potential of this round in a long action. It's the .350 Remington Magnum SI (Slamfire Improved :p).

It has a 24" 1:12 twist McGowen Precision barrel. I get 2750 fps MV with 250gr bullets, and 2530 fps with 310gr bullets. Fine accuracy.

Long bullets in the 350 RM often have me wishing for a long action... nice rifle... uhmmmm, sans sling....

Was at one time the owner of a 600 in 350.
Thankfully, Mason Williams developed a series of loads using light bullets which made it tolerable to shoot.
It was a beast to shoot, but effective on game.
I always felt it was an underperformer, and never lived up to what I thought it should have done.
I will jump in on the 358 Norma wagon..... My latest is a M70 with a 20" bbl. in a Hogue overmolded stock.
Great cartridge. Works great.

Hoyt..... jmop, but the .35's are classic cartridges.... heck the Rem is circa 1906.... and classic cartridges deserve to be shot from classic rifles...

I would definitely stick with the wood and blue on this one.....

What do you get for speeds?

I love my 350 RMs............they are killing machines.

This is my working 350 RM and has accounted for dozens of blackies...........Mod 7 KS with 1.5-5 Vari X III......load is 225 ABs at 2925 fps

This is my latest and has yet to be blooded............Mod 7 MS

Blued/Walnut is always my first inclination, however the stainless rifle is slated for Stainless RS sights and barrel band swivel and a chop to 21" for use as a guide rifle in rough conditions... so I am half inclined to keep both.

Where do you buy the stainless RS sights?

I called Ruger... made my way through a loop of multiple departments, neatly avoiding Ruger International and finally got the proper part numbers off and old relic stored away in the parts department... then gave the part numbers to Snapshots to order in.

"...Following its 1964 release, the M600 rifle received a good deal of criticism....did not fancy the synthetic materials, its light weight and short barrel. Jack O’Connor stated that such a rifle was of no use, considering that the average man simply could not shoot it straight due to its significant recoil (at a time when men actually knew how to shoot)....
