350 yard Moose/Elk Capable 14" Barreled T/C Contender Carbine in 338JDJ #2

Holy crap, 405gr@1330 out of a 4.25" barrel!!! I knew the Casull's were canons but wow, just wow!

How do you feel about 375 Win as I see you have one? There's a 14" available but would that length do justice to the cartridge? I'm thinking 18" minimum and see yours is 21".

Do 14" take a different forend? Your laminate gun looks like a normal rifle forend but the composite one looks more like a long handgun one. I still have a short handgun one around here somewhere I think.

Most 14" barrels take a handgun forend spacing is slightly shorter but only by 1/4" real pain because I have mostly carbine forends.

I did have Match Grade Machine machine for a carbine forend on my 14" 45 Colt barrel.

The laminate gun is a handgun forend made for me by Tony's Stocks in the States he won't ship to Canada anymore I am looking at Boyds stocks right now never tried one of the handgun forends yet but thinking of ordering a couple to try out.

Some hand gun forends only have one attachment screw I have only one screw holding the forend on the 338JDJ#2 inserted a sling stud to attach my sling in the front hole.

I get the same velocities from the 14" 375JDJ barrel as I do from the 21" 375 Win barrel I would not be impressed with 14" 375 Win velocities.

I need to find a gunsmith in Canada that can rechamber these Contender barrels with wildcats by JD Jones and Mike Bellm thing with Bellms wildcats is they use regular reloading dies I have a 7-30 Waters barrel and a 35 Rem barrel that I would like to rechamber.

I went up the mountain behind our place to water the apple tree up on my dogs grave this morning took my 18" barreled black/gray laminate thumb hole stocked Contender carbine in 10mm.

I have to plink when I head out into the bush only shot it 9 times but it was fun.

Thanks CC.

I thought I had heard they were different spacing, I've never owned a 14" barrel, pistol or carbine, so I wasn't sure if I remembered correctly.

Both my Contender and Encore have Tony's stocks and forends, to bad he won't ship up here anymore. The only package I have ever had go missing in the mail was one of his forends.

I kind of figured the 375 Win would not be wonderful in a 14", thanks for the second opinion.

I'm a big fan of Bellm, all the springs and trigger stuff on both my TC's are his. I sure wish we could get his barrels up here or send work to him down there. I hear he is booked 6-8 months out most of the time though.

Too bad MGM doesn't do all those chamberings on their barrels but they do say you can request them if they don't list them. M. Bellm is a big fan of their barrels according to his newsletters. I see nine35 is bringing MGM in now though I don't know his pricing schedule.

I went up the logging road by my place today with TEG to do some long range rimfire shooting, my 10/22 with re-chambered Butler Creek barrel in their matching sporter stock using Federal 714 ammo shot a 1 5/8" 5 shot group @ 199 lasered yards. I'm very happy:)

We have a very good 350yd shooting range up there and will be using all of it soon with the rimfires.
