356 or 9.3x62?

Maybe, but for a strong lever action, or a short bolt action, the wildcats based on the .284 Winchester (.35-284, 9.3-284, or .375-284) pretty much outperform the majority of factory offerings, and in the case of the .35-284 matches the .350 Magnum. In a standard length bolt action though, the 9.3X62 is better choice, which comes with the beneficial option of being made from inexpensive and plentiful .30/06 brass.

Use a long action BLR then.

Going with a lever gun as a possible action of choice, my selection would be my favorite, the Winchester '71. ;)Definately not making this one available for conversion

but if I had one of the new reproductions of it, that would make the project a viable option. A slight deviation of the calibre, how about necking up the original 348WCF cartridge to 9.3 and re-barreling? Your thoughts?

I have the hots for CZ rifles. Got a CZ 550 LUX chambered for 270win. I badly want a CZ 550 FS chambered for 9.3x62 as my moose and elk rifle although my .270 would probably take down a moose pretty easily. Just an excuse to buy another gun.

think i will have to go with the cz, the prices on the used stuff is just insane. i just don't understand the sellers here, its nuts. found a nice 222 remington. would like to get that too, but again i can get a brand new cz for less money than the used remmy. whats going on around here?
