Hi, wonder where you all get your ammo boxes and how many you have? maybe I am too cheap on this one, but it's kind of silly to me to buy over $100 just for boxes. :p:p:p
I like to load 1000 at once. so for this two calibers, I will need 20 x 100rd boxes. can't find any at the range. :p

I don't use ammo boxes for pistol ammo. I just save and wash the plastic containers from loblaws that had potato salad, mac salad etc. The lids stay on pretty tight, you can see what's in them, and they stack well.

For storage dishwasher pod/packet/tab containers. (Washed out well of course)
Then fill your 50/100 round "mtm" containers as needed.

I use ziplock baggies to store loaded ammo at home. When I go to the range, I usually take ammo in the mtm molded boxes.

great. thanks guys. :)

I am leaning towards plastic bag in the ammo can option as I don't really buy anything in big plastic container really. Then I only need 2 x 100-round box for the range day.

I used to store all my reloads in those 100rnd and 50rnd ammo boxes. Then I started cranking out way more ammo than boxes and the light bulb went on in my head. I ended up buying a bunch of those Plano ammo boxes from CT when they went on sale and store the bulk of the ammo in them. I only keep a few plastic ammo boxes just to refill whatever I decide to shoot at the range. The rest I've either given to close shooting buddies or are sitting in a pile in my basement, soon to end up in the EE.

I have the big MTM ammo cans that can hold 1000 rounds easy, just don't feel like to put all the rounds together like that. plastic bags seem to be a minimum organizer inside the big can right now.

I bought enough of the nice 100 round cases to put 600 rounds of each ammo into. The rest goes in to the some of the many salsa bottles I've got from buying the Mango salsa from Costco. I'm worse than a 10 year heroin junkie when it comes to that darn stuff.

I refill the cases as they empty.

Unlike the factory ammo boxes and foam trays I can look through the blue or red plastic and see what rounds are inside and how many there are. And that's darn handy. It's also good because as I load the boxes up from the salsa bottles I can line up the heads looking for a less than ideally seated bullet or a high primer. Or, since we are all human, a case with bullet and NO primer if the press hiccuped and I didn't notice.

So far I've been getting my cases from the local gun shops a couple or four here and there as needed.
