357 auto pistols

The Coonan was a superb pistol in 357Mag. Unfortunately they went out of business many years ago but there are still a few around. In fact there is one in the EE for sale but they dont come cheap. Mags are over $100 if you can find them

And .357Sig load are rather near the .357Mag load with a 125G. I dont think the DE is a good platform for the .357mag, too big! But A Good pistol in .357Sig is an excellent tool. But brass not as easy to find as other normal cal.

See they are rare in Canada!

I know the Coonan pistol, that's the one I was thinking about
when I asked my question.

I agree the Desert Eagle is to big in 357 Mag. I took a look at
the Glock 357, they don't name the cartridge but it looks a lot
like a 357 Sig.

Can't find the post about the Coonan in the EE forum can you
point to the link please?

Thanks to all that answered!

The Glock is indeed .357 SIG. I guess it's like how the newer .40 S&W Glocks just say ".40" on the slides...they don't want to give the competition free advertising. I couldn't find the Coonan ad either...maybe it was sold or the seller gave up.

EDIT: Here's the ad...I'm not used to the new search options yet.

Mateba makes a self loader in .357 Mag. Poke around here you might find the photos of a CGN'er that recently imported one.

The Mateba is actually a self-loading revolver, not at all like the old Webley-Fosbery, but a self-loading revolver all the same. It's a big, bulky gun with odd placement of the barrel so that if fires from the bottom chamber of the cylinder rather than the top chamber. But it is definitely a semi-automatic .357 Magnum. Very comfortable to shoot.

There is at least one Coonan in the Lower Mainland. They are indeed 357 magnums and resemble a stainless 1911 on steroids
