so I thought I was on to something new,

Playing around with 30-30 necking up or down and then getting a 30-30 AI and looking at that thinking hey I could neck up and shorten a 30-30 AI and shoot 357 bullets.

So playing around and mocking up a round to get a feeling of what it would look like then thinking hey what is similar so I can get an idea of what the load data might look like and then I stumble across the 357 Herrett in my old Lee manual.... well that makes things a lot easier.

anyone have a 357 Herrett and can comment, I'm leaning towards using Hornady 158grn XTP and a barrel between 14"-18"

I remember helping a friend convert some .30-30 brass for use in his Contender pistol (which was and is the primary vehicle for the cartridge), it was my first experience with converting brass. This was a long time ago, I don't recall what we did for loading, but he was a big fan of Winchester ball powders at the time, so it was likely loaded with W748 under a common JHP bullet.

Yes, I do think the recoil was probably a new high for me at the time, as I was very new to handguns then.
