357 mag 24" Rifle: 2400 or lil gun?

I use Trail Boss and Bullseye for my 357 magnum handgun rounds and now I'm going to add a powder for my 24" Rossi 92.

I plan on using 110, 125, 140 and 158 grain jacketed bullets and was wondering which powder you would choose to get the best velocity with lowest pressure out of that long Rossi barrel. 2400 or Lil gun?

Also, I've heard that Lil Gun burns hot and can burn out barrels quicker, any thoughts on this?

I cannot help you with a comparison. I only use 2400 for higher velocity loads and it works fine. No data on how long the barrel will last, but I will let you know when I get another 30 or 40 K rounds through it.
Seriously, you need to compare the manuals and data available to decide if it matters to you.

2400 is an excellent pistol cartridge powder in long barrels. Don't have any experience with Lil gun but I have used 2400 a fair bit.

You should be able to get 1600 fps out of mild loads of 2400 and 158 gr bullets in a 24" barrrel.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll pick up some 2400. I should be able to break 2000 fps with a 110 grainer which should be fun for groundhogs if it's accurate enough.

If you have any problems finding 2400, H110 is very similar in performance for heavy loads. Either one works great in my .44 Mag, at any rate.

QUICKLOAD suggests you should be able to get 2000 fps out of the 125 gr bullets without pushing pressures past moderate levels.

2400 is a bit more versatile with the wide range of bullets that you want to shoot. Lil gun is excellent with heavy bullets in a carbine .357. I use mostly Win296/H110 in mine.
