357 mag in a single shot rifle.

Marlin 94 in 357 mag. I will never sell it. If you wanna handicap yourself with a single shot, don't load the tube. It is the first gun from my colllection that newbies wanna shoot at the range.

Your point is hard to argue against... my Marlin 94c is the last gun I'd ever sell. Single shots have a simplicity that I find reassuring. As long as you don't get a case jammed in the chamber or break your fingers, you can operate one in any environment.

That being said, especially in a pistol-caliber rifle, it's nice to have the extra shots in case you need them. The Marlin 1894c is really the cat's meow... a light handy rifle that still operates like a big boy.

I've shot a few magnums from my newly gotten Puma .357. While it seems to produce excellent results there isn't the same Magnum revolver like BOOM! with the lever rifle as the handgun. Likely due to the lack of a cylinder gap and a longer barrel that allows a complete charge burn and tapering off of the pressure before the bullet leaves the muzzle.

Still, it's a sweet shooting gun with a soft shoulder bump. Softer by far than a .30-30. And given the energy of the likely up near 2000 fps I'd guess that it would make a pretty nice close in deer and other medium to smaller game gun where the game doesn't come with armor plated bone structure such, as I understand, wild boars have.

I had the "Baby Carbine" out this morning.
I was trying some loads with Lil' Gun powder. 17 grains behind a bulk Winchester 158 JHP gave me average velocity over the chrony of 1963 fps and a 50 yd group of just a hair over 1".
Man, I like this little carbine. With the tang sight, I was clanging the 100 yd gong quite regularly and went 2 for 3 at the 150 yd pig (offhand, no rest) I even managed to bounce one or two off the 200 yd gong.
I will definitely be taking this rifle out into the bush this fall!

It would appear that hr1871 dot com has a Handi-Slug gun that comes with 2 barrels. One barrel is .357 mag and the other barrel is 20 ga rifled slug. The gun would seem to be a bit over $300 if you could find one.

I lucked out this spring and found a Handy gun in 357, swapped out the stock from a Survivor shotgun, and put an old Redfield low power variable on it. Haven't had the chance to shoot her yet, but will post pic's tonight. The barrel is pretty stout on this one, semi bull almost in configuration.
