.357 mag lever action

I'm not sure if it's still being made, but I picked up a Rossi lever .357mag.
I think I paid about 250 or 300$ used.

Rossi is now Puma- Brazil manufacture.

Ps: depends what you want the 357 lever for- most cowboy action is 10 rounds, some rifles less than 20 inches only hold 8 rounds, so be sure what you want it for before purchasing.

Rifles in .357 Mag....

Have had a Browning B92 in it but currently have a Win 94AE trapper in .357 Mag. The Winchester has no issue chambering and firing .38 Spls either.

If you even THINK you'll want to get into cowboy shooting later on with these then go for the 20 inch. The 16 only holds 8 x .357 and 9 x .38Spl with no way to get the 10th round in legally under the rules (as in chambered and ready) of CAS matches. I almost got caught by this when I was heh'ming and haw'ing over deciding on the 16 or 20 myself. In a rare moment of brilliance I asked if the 16 would hold 10 .38Spl. The shop guy had to take it down and try loading. Took 9 and the 10th only went in half way up the nose of the bullet.

And again I'll suggest that if you're looking at something that is just for giggles then I'd go for the .44Mag or .454 Casull version and get into reloading to cut down the cost. Even with .357 Mag and the lighter round barrel version it's still pretty meek and mild to shoot. With .38Spl you may as well save money and just get a .22LR lever gun for all the kick it has.

What? No .44Mag handgun to go with the rifle? Guess you'll need to fix that issue then, eh? :D

I also got to shoot a stainless round 16 inch barrel Rossi chambered in .454Casull. The .454 kicks a bit harder than .30-30 from a Win-94. But coming out of a 16 inch it would easily do a nice job on deer if you're a hunting sort of guy. And talk about light and compact in the bush!

The cowboy shooters are all looking keenly for .38/.357 lever guns so I think that when they show up the prices will tend to be up there and they won't last for long. If you really want one then you may want to jump on this special in the link. That's actually a darn good price. After shipping it should be the same price as you'd pay regular for one from a local store.

Being ignorant of the rules of Cowboy shooting; in reloading ammunition could you cut the case of a .38spl down by roughly an eigth of an inch? Useing the numbers you gave above. This would allow the 10th round into the tubular magazine.

is that 9 .38spl what? round nose, swc, wad cutters does it matter on the feeding of the rounds too. cause if thats 9 round nose you could easily fit 10 wad cutters in there.

just a thought i don't know cause i can't find a cheep enough one yet
some day and one day will merge and i will own one of these
