357 mag loads

296 and H110 make good real hot loads. Not so good for medium hot. Some books marke these powders DNR (Do Not reduce).

Blue Dot, Herco and even Unique will make nice snappy loads all the way from medium power to uncomfortable.
 
2400, W296 & H110 are all great powders in the 357 Magnum, but if you want max velocities at somewhat lower pressures, try Hodgdon's Lil'Gun. My Ruger Blackhawk just loves it with any of the heavier jacketed slugs. Eagleye.
 
There is lots of data out there if u want to look for it. I agree with the previous posters re heavy loads using H110/W296. If you have never used these powders before do some research before you start loading as they do come with warnings.
As for medium loads, you have numerous choices. Personally, I have used W231 as well as Titegroup for both 357 and 44mag with great results but these are not powderpuff loads but still fall a bit short of full house loads. If u want medium loads, maybe look at the data for the 44Special if u are planning on using 44mag. If its 357, use data for 38Spl+P.

For heavy loads with 180gr bullets in my Ruger security Six, I use casefull of Win 680 with magnum primers. No complaints here.
 
HOWDY, UNIQUE is the go to powder for 357 mags . Soft or good for strong loads ,lead bullets are great ,jacket work just fine . there are cleaner powders or better for a special load but it will work reasonable well with any listed load in the book .
 
I like 2400, 296, and H-110 in the .357. I only use one bullet weight now, a 195 gr hard cast SWC with a gas check loaded to 1150 from my 6" M-27. I reserve Unique and Bullseye for .38 Special loads with this same bullet.

:agree: Alliant Unique works well for me.
 
In my old Ruger GP100, I burned 11 grains of BlueDot behind a Speer 180grn FMJ. That was a very stiff load, approach with caution! But it shot great.
I also used a 125grn FMJs that were sized .356" with 16 grains of BlueDot. It was surprisingly flat shooting and accurate to 100m.
Looking over the Alliant manual now, it seems that Power Pro 300MP is going to be the new 'go-to' pwoder for .357Mag.
