.357 mag on Grizz?

I had many bear encounters , black and brown, ( ATC for the last 8 years.) Mostly funny, some very serious.Well, I am still here !
Absolute MINIMUM caliber? It is the "caliber" of the person
who carries one for protection, meaning constant practise i.e 400-500 rounds
per month and keeping it up even in the winter time if possible and under time
pressure. Steady nerves and your skill compliment each other.

Please consider that high speed shooting is essential as those bears can
move extremely fast at any range, but especially when attacking
from the side.
Revolver or Pistol ?? Choose the one you are "fastest in action" !
I am talking about split seconds.
Your choice may be different, but please consider first shot speed and accuracy your life saver.
For what it's worth .........

mistakenly posted twice and don't know how to remove it completely. Sorry !

As an afterthought, I would like to mention that I carried the Delta Elite all the time
with an empty chamber. Never again !
Once Bear and myself surprised each other ,and by the time I had one in the chamber, he was
already 10-15 meters past me. He did not like me either ! I really felt lucky !
Needless to say, now fully loaded, safety on.
I tried to shoot as fast with my .44 Mag from the holster as with my pistol, without much
apparent speed loss, but the target inspection did discourage me somewhat, even though
I also shoot it a lot .
May someone learn from my mistake, or just do much better.
