.357 mag Pet loads

I just purchased a Ruger GP100 .357 mag 4+ inch barrel.

I was looking at some of my load data on .357 mag and found a wide assortment of loads.


I have Titegroup / PowerPistol + Fed small primers

My question is :
For just plinking what is a good starting load
How much on the roll crimp
Best OAL

Is it worth loading .38 or just sticking with .357
 
158 grain Jacketed bullet, Full house load: 16 grains of Lil'gun.
158 grain SWC, plinking load: 4.6 grains of Titegroup or 6.5 grains of HS-6.
Just load 357, forget the 38 Special cases.

Have you shot any number of lil gun loads eagleye? Have you noticed any flamecutting or excessive forcing cone erosion?

I have been using longshot and am loving the flame and smoke show.
 
For full power .357 in .357 magnum brass, 14 grains 2400 over Speer JHP.

99% of my reloads are in 38 special brass, loaded to +P+ pressures and velocities (1,000+ fps). My favorite recipe is 4.6 grains 700X under 158 grain LSWC cast from Wheelweights in Lee TL mold.

I also have Rainier 125 grain Plated HPs over 5.1 grains Titegroup in .38 spl brass. Have not chrono's yet, but these should deliver 1,100 fps.

No apparent cutting going on. Have used the Lil'gun loads in a Model 27 S&W, a Ruger Blackhawk and a S&W 586. One of these has about 1000 of these loads through it. No unusual erosion that I can see.
