.357 mag question

I noticed on my .357 mag reloads that the rounds emit much more chamber flash that factory ammo. I am using bulls eye powder with Berry 158gr copper plated HP. Powder charge is just under the max charge according to Lee reload manual. CCI 550 mag primers. Loads feel less powerful yet emit lots more flash from between cylinder and barrel of my Ruger GP100. Back to back shooting with factory ammo, same bullet the factory rounds are more louder and feel more powerful but less to no flash. I am trying PMC korean nickle plated .357 but its the same compared to Federal 158gr. I am also using factory crimp die set at half turn crip.

Ay ideas?
 
Bullseye is a fairly fast powder. I think it's kinda like when I make warm Unique loads for my .357. High pressures but not really high velocity. Try using a slower powder. Although, 16gr of Lil Gun behind a 158 makes a hell of a fireball too.

I'm guessing that you are using ~6gr? Try a slower powder like Blue dot with more like 10-11 grains..

Yes, closer to 5.7 for me with bulls eye. I currently have bulls eye and tite group (faster than bulls eye) So I will try some slower powder, thanks!

The faster powders do leave quite a bit of free air in the case.
 
15gr of W296 with a Wolf hard cast 158gr SWC or RNFP bullet for me. great bang, though little to no flash that i can see.
