my 77-357 is picky. I love the gun but it took a while to find what it really likes, my 357 hornady xtp hand load is very consistent at sub 2" at 100 yards, it seems to put the first 3 shots into 1" territory then the 4th and 5th .5-1" lower. My 200gn lrngc load is also a sub2" load..
For .38sp hand loads the rifle hates lswc and seems to prefer a roundnose bullet cast at .358. My hand loads are still getting me 1-1.5 inch at 50 yards and the sub inch load is actually remington umc .38sp lrn.
when I first got the ruger it was very inconsistent but it seems to have been settling down more with more handload experiments and I look forward to getting my new trigger sear because the trigger on the rifle doesn't always lead to breaking the cleanest of shots.
I hunt this rifle with a 1-4x leupold but used to run a 2-7 redfield while doing load work up.
