.357 Magnum Lever Action Rifle?

Rossi Puma 92 and Marlin 1894. Winchester makes one in Japan now.

Opinions and prices vary. Most will admit that the Browning 92 is probably the best, but costs the most and not being made anymore.

Ruger just released a bolt action .357 as well.

H&R has a single shot .357 rifle for $329 I believe.

A few people will say use the search functionality, but they're just being dicks.

I can vouch for the Rossi 92. Fairly cheap(ie-inexpensive), but you do an action smoothing job on it and it really improves it.
There's a Marlin as well, but it's way more expensive.

.357 Lever gun

Doc Rowland sells them...........16" or 20" bbl. in .357 or .44 Mag.....in my experience semi wadcutter bullets do not feed well.........use round nose lead or jktd. loads......
MY 16" bbl. Rossi .44 Mag. is a 5 1/2 lb. great bush gun....and with full power .44 Mag. factory loads, just fine for deer and black bear at reasonable ranges....
If you buy the .357 model, you can also chamber .38 Spl. but I don not know if they will feed out of the magazine....and of course with full power magnum loads you still have good short range bush gun for under $600....

The nicest in my opinion is the older Marlin 1984c's and the Browning 92's.

The neo-retro Uberti/Chapparel/Rossi stuff is really nice but after playing with them on the range, the Browning took the prize. Newer Marlins feel like you're handling a Norinco, seriously.

I haven't got to try the new Winchesters yet, but I will.

I think in the end I'll probably settle for an older Marlin or I'll ditch the lever gun idea and go for a Ruger bolt.

Henry rifle Big boy 357 mag ,very nice and accurate... JP.

Damn you , damn you all to hell. I love that little Golden Boy .22 and your post got me thinking .. I just picked up a Colt Python and have all the .357 dies ... why not get a Big Boy .. so I just got off the phone with Corlane's in Dawson Creek. Triple damn damn damn .. they had one in stock. Emphasis on had ..... it's now on it's way to me! $849 plus shipping. They didn't have a cantilever scope mount for it but I'll give it a good go with just the iron sites before I go that route anyway.

I got my Rossi 92 in 357 with the 24" octagon barrel and I love it. It's a little nose heavy but that's a big octagonal pipe out front with a little .357 hole in it. That's the price you pay for a 13 round magazine. :D

I went to http://www.stevesgunz.com/ and picked up the ejector spring, stainless mag follower and rifle tune up DVD kit and did a little slick work on the action. The rifle now throws 10 38 special brass, (yes I'm a CASer), into a nice little area and levers smoothly.

I reload and I'm really loving the simplicity of the old straight straight wall cartridges.

How can one decide between the two?
