357 or 30-30? Help me buy my new gun.

Some of you guys have no idea on the damage a .357 125 gr. Hollow point out of a Marlin carbine does to a whitetail.
 
I just picked up a Marlin 1894 in .357....... I also own 2 Winchester model 94 in 30.30, and a marlin model 336 in 30.30. I’m selling all 3 30.30’s. The 1894 is a well made gun, and is my favorite to shoot.....it also shoots .38’s flawlessly.
 
I load 30-30 down to plinking with Unique or 700X. Cast bullets and away you go! I also have a nice new .357 Rossi lever that I never use. Just got a gorgeous 1957 94 in .32 Special the other day. Same deal there. Plinking loads, cast bullets. :)
 
There are some good prices on the Marlin 336W 30-30 currently. Tenda has it for $659.99 including scope. While I like the idea of building a rack of Henrys this price seems hard to resist. I know that there have been some quality issues at Marlin recently but I live 20 minutes from Tenda so I can go and inspect before I buy.

Saying someone has no idea isn't a fair statement when a 30-30 was recommended over a .357. A 30-30 will always be more effective on a deer than a .357 since it has so much more energy behind it.

I've had no worries with 357 for deer and bigger critters inside 100 yds. The round has proven itself many times over on big bears, moose & elk since 1935, and that's from handguns let alone rifles. Load 'em right & hunt in tight.;)

And they now allow big game hunting with 204 Ruger!!!! How retarded is that! Just no .17 caliber, no rimgire, no 22 Hornet, 25-20, 32-20, .30 carbine, 357, 41 mag, 44-40 or 45 Colt. So I can legally hunt a 200Lb + mule deer with a 204 Ruger but not a 300 gr WFN 45 Colt out of my Rossi 92 at 1400fps.

I'm running the same weight boolits from my Rossi 45 Colt at the same velocities with hardcast. They ain't no critter in NA that can't be dropped clean on a well placed shot with it.
(Key thing being a critter that's unaware of yer presence of course & at closer range.)

Gopher guns fer big deer huh? What are these wankers thinkin' ?f:P:
