.357 Powders

If you are looking for accuracy look no further than hard cast bullets for both the 9MM and .357. As boomer points out the 357429 bullet is a very good bullet for the .357 and there are commercial casters around that produce a similar bullet if you are not into casting yourself. With their 1 - 20 twist my Rossi rifle doesn't care for the heavier bullet but my Ruger GP-100 eats them up. The only reason I use plated bullets in my revolvers is to get away from the smoke generated by the burning lube. It can be a problem when shooting IDPA low light stages using a flashlight. I like the Berrys 158 gr plated for indoor shooting.

I shoot CAMPROs out of my 9mm major and 38 super raceguns at 1300fps+ and out of my Desert Eagle 44 Mag - Very accurate - very happy.
All those guns do not like lead - so a full jacket is required. (Racegun Comps build up lead and Gas systems on DE plug up with lead)

The only issue with plated bullets (even thickly plated ones like CAMPRO) is to make sure you do not overcrimp and crack the plating.
If you do, you'll get jacket separation and accuracy will go to hell.

357 and 44 - I've used H110 or WW296 for 20 years. Never had a need or urge to change.

Whats your recipe for the Berrys 158 gr. I just bought 1000.
Thanks

The following was shot out of my GP-100 over a F1 Chrony:

3.2 gr of Clays, OAL 1.470
Federal Small Pistol Primers
Brass Winchester Western .38spl cases
Temp. 14C
High Vel. 707
Low Vel. 678
Avg. Vel. 894
Avg. PF 110

Load is very clean burning and accurate. The load also makes PF for IDPA SSR Division.

Mixed brass had no material effect on velocity.

Not sure if anyone else is looking for a fireball powder, but I recently tried hogdon universal and itproduces some nice fireballs out of the sides.

It also had very little kick.
