357 primers sticking on my pin....

Hey there,
I've been depriming my 357 mag,brass,on my RBCS SS press and the primers are sticking on the pin.
I've tryed adjusting the pin,up and down, but nothing works.
I still have to do the second pump,to get them to pop.

I've tryed depriming before I wet tumble and after.
It doesn't matter,they still stick on the pin.

It's getting pretty annoying,depriming 400 pieces,twice.:)

Any advice? Other than get a new press:)

Maybe,but this is not always the case.
I remember doing a bunch and not having this issue.

I do have a new redding universal decapping kit,I could try.
But I didn't want to add an extra step.
 
When I had that problem previously I solved it by slightly rounding off the end of the decapping pin(ie made it less sharp or likely to penetrate the anvil). good luck
 
I took the pin out, layed a piece of Emory cloth on the bench. And slightly took the edge off the pin, right where the tip starts. Just kind of rolled the pin on the cloth gently.
 
I've lived with the same issue for years now. Tried a bunch of the fixes found on the web with mixed results.

I finally decided to try tapering the pin. The Lee pins are .067" diameter. I tapered the pin down over about .09 to .10" worth of length to a nose diameter of around .05" and then cleanly rounded the end. The whole area worked on was polished to a very smooth mirror like finish with various grit wetordry sandpaper finishing with 1200 grit then polished with the lightly abrasive rear side of the last 1200 grit paper.

I'm hesitantly optimistic because so far I've only done around 1000 rounds since modifying my .38Spl and .357 Mag sizing dies. But, knock on wood, so far I have not had a single sticky primer that I can recall. This contrasts to the "second best" idea which saw me with a sticky primer about every 250 rounds or so.

The issue with a sticky primer on a progressive is that I can't just cycle it a second time without getting a double charge. So when I do get a sticky primer that wedges back into place I have to stop and clear the powder drop station. A real PITA sort of deal.

Primer suck back can happen with Dillon dies too, ask me how I know, lol.

I file/sand the decapping pin to create a small angle, similar to a hypodermic needle (not as drastic, maybe a 15 degree angle), that will prevent primer suck back. After filing/sanding the angle make sure you round all the sharp edges.

Crap, I forgot I also did the taper/polish the pin (as others have suggested) on the lee decapper. So not necessary the Lee die. I do remember this issue for me was most prevalent on 38spl. or 357 mag. brass
 
It's to the point,where I don't even bother with one stroke.
I just do the second stroke and then remove the brass.

It's not a full second stroke though, just enough,so that the air pressure?? Pops them out.
Maybe a half stroke.
