Anybody have any real world experience hunting with the 200 FTX in the .358, are these tough enough for Elk ?. Yes I know there are better choices just trying to find out if these are any good for big game. Thanks

Never shot an elk with one but I have use the FTX on deer in 200 .358 Win/.35 Whelen/350 Rem Mag, 225 .44 Mag and 325 .45/70... it did a great job and held together well. I think on elk, I would gravitate to the 225 or 250 Partition.

If I go for moose, I mostly use my 35 Whelen with the Hornady 250 SP, but I am very curious about these 200 FTX’s

This is my load for my M77 MKII Whelen... it will be going out for late season flopheads... very accurate load out to 300 yards, surprisingly flat. In the .358 BLR, I am using the 200 RCL and in the No.1-A Whelen I am using the 200 RN... the M77 MKII .350 Rem Mag is getting the 250 Partitions.

Hey Hoyt, have you ever used the FTX on blackies? My 35 Rem loves them and that's what I'm carrying for bear in a week and a half.

Once... it did a great job on a 250 bear through the lungs. I have only taken three bears with rifles, the other 60 odd were all with archery gear... longbows, recurves and compound. I would be very confident in the FTX from your .35 Rem... if you are a "shoulder shooter" you might want to make another choice, but on ribs/lungs they will hold together and punch on through.

Good to know, I have some Speed 220gr HC loaded up as well that shoot decent but these FTX's are the winner the 3 or 4 bullets i have tried.

My M77 MKII Whelen loves them too... the M77 .358 carbine I sold to Brad liked the 200 FTX too, but that rifle likes everything.

Good day, I am very interested in buying your BLR model 81 358 win

Victor, I see youre new to the forum. Take a minute to read the CGN general rules. Here's an excerpt for your knowledge.

A friend of mine has a 358 that has taken several animals with hand loaded 200 grain FTX, it has accounted for deer, bear and moose, all one shot kills, and yes he would also agree to stay away from the shoulder if possible.
