Actually I am in the final stages of buying a Winchester 94 AE XTR in 356.

I've been contemplating for some time a 35 Whelan/358, as of late and I am a left handed shooter. But I think so myself, this choice will be a fine for hunting in the boreal bush, of Northern Alberta.
I love my 30-30 for deer hunting, but these older eyes need more optical assistance than the Williams FP peep, more often these days. I also often hunt alone & call me paranoid, but I feel better about ground stalking with a medium bore, that has some smack-down to it and more effective, at slightly longer range too. I am considering too, maybe the Burris Fastfire II, as it's pretty slim profile and lightweight too. Might be handier than even a short scope perhaps.
Anyways, I wish to cast medium/heavyweight bullets, for this calibre/carbine combo. And I was wondering if fellow medium bore rifle owners, could give firsthand advice please?
I see that there are some SAECO 240+ moulds, but not much on the internet regarding anything over this weight for sale brand new.

RCBS makes a 200 grain mould that works quite well in the 35 cals--and in the whelen/.358 win you can get a 250 grain mould from their custom shop. The heavier one is likely too long for the .356 action though. It works nice in the whelen--I have killed several deer with that combo. RCBS also made a 180 grain bullet for silhoutte shooting that is a flat point--not sure if the mould is still available but if you can find one was an excellent bullet also.

Don't forget you can load pistol bullets too. I load a 180 gr TMJ bullet at a fairly snappy velocity and 158 lead SWC at sedate velocity. Good for casual offhand shooting.

Unique in 10 to 15 gr doses works well.
