Here we go. It can include any other 358 NM around, as long as they're "pretty" :)jerkit:).
The goal is trying to keep track of (two) of the Holly Grail(s) of the Scandinavian rifles, means the round itself and the rifle, too.

Here's my new baby, a 1651 Special, 1964 vintage.

Her body :)rolleyes:);

OK, now your turn, but be careful, she won't tolerate any other nicer than her... she's deadly jealous.

I agree with Gidds505, very nice:)!! Glad to hear you got it and I don't think you'll be disappointed. We'll have to get together on reload info and results.

Initially I was holding out for the 358NM in a Schultz & Larsen but when Ted sent pictures and offered this one to me in a 1651 Husqvarna, I couldn't resist. I think between us we have a 'band of brothers':). I was successful in getting a Moose draw in B.C. this year in MU 5 so with any luck at all I'll get a chance to test it in the field. I've posted the pictures previously but here goes again.

And a picture Ted sent showing the floor plate and trigger guard area.

I've just made a deal with Ted and sent the check for another Husqvarna, a model 7000L in 270 Win.

It should fit in well with the rest of what a classify as my 'Northern European Connection'. Left to right;
Schultz & Larsen model 65DL in 308 Norma Magnum
Schultz & Larsen model 68DL in 7x61 S&H
Husqvarna 1651 in 358 Norma Magnum
Husqvarna 4000 in 30-06

You are cheating, Johnn.... only the .358 NM are allowed...
Maybe should we start a general Husqvarna #### thread.... But, then, we will need to make one for the shotguns, too...

But I do agree, the S&L are another nice rig.

And, my rifle says your 1651 Lyx makes some shadow on her shining...

Thanks for the comments guys.

:redface:Sorry guy. I assure you that wasn't the intent. You mentioned mentioned 'scandinavian rifles' so I opened that door a little more. ;)I'll PM you a couple pictures of some fairly recent 'field trial' results, using products of each of the two mentioned scandinavian manufacturers:D.

No worries, my friend, I was kidding.

I understand the enthusiasm these babes bring.

Here's my .358 Norma Magnum that Steve Holborn did for me last year. I haven't deflowered it yet but I sure love this rifle. I'm shooting 225 Grain Barnes TSX bullets out of it but haven't shot them through the Chrony yet.

I am resisting posting any.... for now.
Nice Norma's boys. The boot I get from just the ought-six makes me shudder to think what the 358 would be like. :runaway:
Are they punishing?

Is the cross pin from the factory Baribal?
I saw a full wood 16xx that a fellows Dad custom ordered and picked up from the HVA plant many years ago, it was like new and had a very gorgeous stock.

There is some nice lumber on some of them. Maybe 264Magnum will show some of his off, he must have found one by now. Or ten...

Greg pm'd me about this one and I think he asked Trade Ex if it was still for sale... I was too lazy (Uh! No! I was too busy! no, I was lacking time) to take care of it and it stayed for some time on their website... (well, as a teaser, of course (lol!)) - seriously, it was bear hunting season and I was somewhat in a rush... the wife being a shigh school pirncipal on a ending year, ya know, familly first...
I know they got something like three of these, but I must say I scored a very nice one.
In the same shipment, they had some very nice 1640 in 9.3X62, too (but like any good thing, they didn't last). Unfortunately, the Gvt does not want me to get them all, so they afflict me with a lot of income taxes to pay (right away, did they say).

I too, think it's time to show our babes of all models in their best dresses (well, without, if you wish! - Oh! man, I feel like on fire today!) in a dedicated thread (a sticky????).

Now, being serious, yes, the cross bolt, and the SS threaded pin are "stock" from the factory. Only a few early ones did not have it. Also, most Crown Grade (1640 MC) type stocks have a (brass) threaded reinforcement pin through the mag vs trigger wall.

Nice, guys, keep on posting - like the Hives this thread will then be eternal (well, that's what they say!)

Nice rigs! continue feeding the beast.

This might make the Husky fans wanna puke, but here goes! :D

Bill Leeper put this together for me a few years ago. It's a 358 Norma Long Neck which uses untrimmed 300win brass; it is essentially a 358 Norma with a 35 Whelen neck. A M70 classic stainless magnum length action with Wisner extractor. Pac-Nor 22 1/2" 1-12 twist barrel. D'Arcy Echols Legend standard fill stock made by McMillan, one of only two "swirly" Legends in existence. Leupold QR low rings hold a VX-III 1.76-6X32 scope with Premier Reticles #4 reticle. All up it weighs 8 1/4 pounds and balance on the rear edge of the front guard screw, and puts 225TSX's at 2950 fps way under an inch. It's the best all-around hunting rifle I have ever owned, ever seen for that matter.

I like it enough that Bill is putting together it's mate, a 270 on an early M70 action in an Echols edge stock. It will balance the same as the Norma but weigh about 3/4 pound less. I can't imagine a better pair of hunting rifles.

Rick,

Beauty is "inside" they say... Love is something "esoteric"..

Your babe, even siliconed, is welcome here.

But I must say it's nice, too.

Personally, I don't feel firing the .358 NM through a 1651 is worse than a .375 H&H... in a very light dress...

A 358 Norma Magnum in a Ruger #1? Great mix. I like that. Part of the bullet selection I've picked up to reload for mine are the Barnes 225gr TSX. A question if you don't mind, could you post or PM me the load you're using? Again, it looks good guy:).

I haven't had it that many years, but this rifle has taken moose, elk, bison and black bears. Never had a grizzly tag but I have backed down a grizzly with it in hand. If I thought a 375 gave me something more, this rifle would have a 375 hole in the barrel. ;)

Hey Baribal

Love that Norma!! I am working a lot but I will try to get some Husky pictures up in the next couple weeks. Yes Noel, I have managed to find a couple!!! LOL Interesting to see how much things have changed since the Husqvarna days. I am currently putting a Paul Jaeger trigger in an unfired 1640 MC 6.5x55. The literature that came with the trigger says you need a squared up cocking piece for use with the trigger. If you didn't want to grind your own, Jaeger would supply one for $1. I can't exacty remember the price of the last cocking piece I bought off WGP but I am thinking around $40!! Interesting stuff. Look forward to seeing more pics. Also, RickF that is the perfect setup for all North American game in my opinion as well. Everyone has there own idea but that is very close to mine. 1" longer barrel, 2.5-8 Leupold, and some kind of supercoating over the stainless. But that's just me..... LOL Nice guns guys.

You might notice shooting that ruger SS.

Afraid you have me mixed up with Dr. Bartel and his "new King".

I've had Four Hva's now and they all seem to have a sharp recoil but I am like Kevin303, except a bit smaller baby (in stature). It doesn't stop me from shooting till I'm bruised but it sure opens up the groups.

I almost bought one of those years ago, before I became smarter.

All those great pics and not one of the round itself?? How about a pic of the 358 NM beside a 35 Whelen for comparison?
